Sunset Old Town

Was in beautiful old town which was probably the quietest place in town! Sunset beach was incredible, super close and a great place to catch the sunset! Bed was comfortable, and the view from the room was lovely!

As soon as we walked into the room it smelt so bad… we figured it was coming from the bathroom but couldn’t figure out what it was. Was incredibly smelly, and wasn’t enjoyable. We ran the shower to try help, and cooled the room down to see if that helped. When we returned after being out and about it still smelt really bad! One of the towels we were given had like a dry dead fly/bugs stuck to it when I unfolded it. The stairs up to the place were pretty tough with 20kg bags, lucky ours turned into backpacks but would advise against staying here if you have anything bigger or anything you can’t carry. English was not good. Since we were only staying one night we just dealt with it but won’t be returning.

We had an exceptional experience staying in the perfect location of Old Town Ulcinj. The hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating, earning a perfect ten in my book.

One thing to note is that arriving after 8PM meant a bit of walking to reach the property due to restricted access between 8PM-1AM to the old town. It would have been helpful if these details were provided in advance as finding the location and parking took some effort.

The location is really good in the middle of the old town surrounded by restaurants although difficult to find as the property has no name on it and google maps takes you nowhere near it. Its 5 mins from a lovely private sunbathing/swimming area/ bar/restaurant called Sunset Beach (not an actual beach)-nice food and cocktails there. Sunbeds there included in room price. Owners mum is very friendly.

Our room and terrace need cleaning and updating -two of the wardrobes were locked presumably with owners stuff in them, hot tub is not a hot tub but a jacuzzi bath, terrace not very clean with rusty old air-conditioner, seating not nice so we didn't sit outside.

The staff was really nice they were very friendly, and the location is very good it is in the castle so it is a different experience from other hotels.

The room was not clean, we even had trash in the bathroom from previous guests, and it smelled really bad.

The booking makes it seem like it's a hotel, it is not a hotel, it is someone's house. There was trash in our room from previous guests, the host cleaned it out when I asked. When we checked in I saw the host wipe her nose with her bare hand and then grab some towels for us to use in the room. The room is a decent size with balcony and incredible view of the sea. But it is not clean. It looks like it hasn't had a deep cleaning in years. Shower is tiny with hot water heater in it so it's super hard to take a shower. Water backs up out of shower so unless you turn water off while showering you're standing in inches of water. Hard to find because Google maps takes you to port and there are no signs to guide you to room which is up 60 very steep steps in Old Town. The wrong phone number is on the booking site- it is phone number for the owner's daughter. The property has access to beach/bar around 70 meters from property, it's rocky so exercise caution going in and out of water. We didn't share any of these concerns with host as we had an emergency and had to leave after our first night there. The host was very polite when we checked in. I wouldn't recommend visiting Ulcinj itself as it is a very dirty town (trash on streets and beaches) with huge crowds.

The cleanliness of the room coups be better and we were missing some glasses and cups for coffee/ tea.
