Friendly staff. Simple check in and check out. Good central location. Decent value.

Whilst it was clean and functional, there were a few simple, cheap things that could have been done to make the room feel "cared for". Bathroom door handle was dangling by 1 screw. 5 mins to fix. Shower curtain was mouldy at the bottom. Nowhere to hang coats or towels. Small things but it bothered me.

"Dirty, not cared for, don't do it unless your're desperate"

2.0

We booked a last-minute weekend away and the Black Swan was… OK. Well, the best bit was the friendly welcome. I've stayed in worse places, but not for a long long time. If I'd taken the time to read the other reviews maybe I would have not enjoyed this night's experience. The route upstairs is a bit of a rabbit warren—one that would benefit from a hoover over the carpets and, ideally, a scrub (or even repaint) of the doors. Odd holes in the ceiling were, I hope, just wear and tear rather than evidence of previous guests trying to escape. Our room was spacious, with a nice double bed. The mattress was very firm, and I could feel the springs, but since I’m not the Princess from the fairy tale, a single pea under the bed wasn’t going to ruin my night (not that I slept well on it). The carpet, however, did need its stains removed, and the hole in the wall behind the door suggested tempers—and slamming—had flared there before. Had to search around to find power for the kettle...I guess that's what the adjoining room is for. The bathroom was accessed through a linked twin room, which gave it plenty of space, though it could really use some TLC. A large cobweb hung from the ceiling, the shower grouting was heading towards black, and the retro 80s tiles were a reminder of when the hotel probably had its heyday. Then there were the little touches: old TV brackets still on the wall even though the screen now sat on a table. That summed the place up, really—functional enough, but lacking love, attention, and thought. And about those tempers… most pubs get the odd scuffle, but the fight breaking out in the bar as we arrived didn’t feel like a once-in-a-blue-moon event.

Very friendly welcome, nice clean room, comfortable bed. Asked if I would like to enjoy the music that evening, which I did and FIZZI were very good 👍 Had free parking in the town centre. Pub is being done up to look forward to mt return visit! 😀 Thanks again Luke! Highly recommend as a single female traveller wanting value for money and a warm welcome!!

"I’d strongly recommend avoiding this place"

1.0

We travelled to Leominster with my child, hoping for a simple, acceptable stay at The Black Swan Inn. The receptionist was friendly, which was the highlight.

The room, however, offered some ‘extras’ we hadn’t booked: a broken bathroom door that a child couldn’t open or close, and plenty of bed bugs running across the bedding. Not quite the kind of wildlife experience we were looking for. We left immediately and booked another place to actually get some sleep. The receptionist promised a refund, but apparently that was just part of the show. The owner ignored every message, ignored Booking.com as well, and – unsurprisingly – no refund was ever given. So yes, we paid for a night in a room we didn’t use, and got silence in return. Unless your idea of a holiday includes funding someone else’s bed bug collection, I’d strongly recommend avoiding this place
