Lovely old fashioned pub, very welcomed and happy. Will definitely rebook for next year

Lovely traditional pub, great atmosphere and good food

Far too noisy to sleep. Room was hot, too light and the noise became unbearable. Probably didn’t get to sleep till 3am and was awake at 6am.

This was booked due to the location being close to work over the following few days (British Car Museum).

Arrived around 5.15pm only to find the property locked up and no one around. Eventually found someone that phone the owner to say opening up at 5.30pm. Got in eventually. Paid in the pub. No evening meals (this was communicated previously but as a business traveller with many things going on one does not always remember these things). However told no breakfast the following morning (Weds)! Booked breakfast for the Thursday and no one turned up so we went 2 mornings with nothing. Told after chef had puncture on the Thursday and could not make it. Poor communication. The place is very old. Bedroom doors are thin and warped, don’t close properly and mine had a warped centimetre gap letting light through. Bedroom doors in all sleeping accommodation should be fire rated. These are not. Noise from the pub on the Weds night was very loud and last until midnight. We joked that we wiped our feet on the way out! But the carpet in the main corridor upstairs was extremely dirty. I wanted an iron on the first night only to be told initially there was not one. In fairness the lady did find one but here should be in bedrooms. Also my colleague said there was a £5 charge! The place is in a signal dead spot so if you want peace and quiet - great. However despite WiFi being available it was not and we could not connect. As a fire safety professional until there are better fire safety measures I would not recommend staying there. As a general place to stay if you want quietness great. For everything else, flat out no.
