Couldn’t call to make changes, but was closed

Friendly obliging staff and lovely clean room. Very comfortable bed!

The property is a hotel in the old style, visible both in the exterior and interior, and the bar is particularly impressive. I really like such atmospheric places, although it's clear the hotel could use some renovation. The room, dining room, toilets, and showers were very clean. The room was modest, with just beds and tables, but for one night while traveling, that wasn't a problem. There's plenty of parking around the property. The most important advantage of the property is the hosts. The owner is incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful. Even though I arrived late and the bar was closed, he prepared me a very delicious dinner. I'm very grateful. Thank you very much. I wonder if it wouldn't be better for the property to be converted into a hostel, especially since the rooms don't have bathrooms; they're shared. Perhaps this would reduce some of the poor reviews, as tourists tend to expect more amenities when renting a hotel room.

Our experience at the Gladstone Hotel was extremely disappointing. There is no front desk, and guests must contact someone by phone or message to be told which room they have been assigned. From that point onwards, you are completely on your own. The facilities are very old, which would not be an issue if they were properly maintained and kept clean. Several light bulbs were not working, one of the bathrooms was out of order, and the common areas were generally unclean. The worst part was entering our room. The window had been left open, seemingly in an attempt to mask a strong smell of human urine. Resting in such an environment was impossible. Overall, you get what you pay for — and even then, it felt significantly overpriced compared to other accommodation options in similar areas.

The owners were extremely polite and helpful. They went way above and beyond to help us out with another night at the hotel, which was greatly appreciated.

We had no problems with anything here at the hotel.

Das war das einzige Hotel in der Nähe von Lake Tekapo was noch zur Verfügung stand. Bis dahin sind es so 30 Minuten. Das Zimmer hatte für eine Nacht alles was man benötigt. Es gab sogar eine Heizung im Zimmr. Die Gemeinschaftsduche ist geschlechtergetrennt und sauber.

Das Zimmer war etwas alt und heruntergekommen. Würde das Hotel nur für eine Nacht empfehlen. Es war tatsächlich auch etwas zu teuer.
