Gladstone Hotel

Location

Photos show a dated hotel, but to appreciate how grim it is needs to be seen. Not somewhere I'd recommend.

It was in a good stop off location on our road trip.

Firstly when we walked in there was no staff and the hotel looked derelict. It looked like it hadn’t been touched since the 1950’s. A sign told us to message a guy via WhatsApp, however we went into an old looking bar where a guy checked us in. When entering the room we were met with an unpleasant smell. The room was dirty and dingy. The bathrooms were full of mould and looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. When walking through the hall there were broken windows and the place looked unfurnished. Downstairs there was a living room where a 1 eyed cat could often be found (no prior warning of this- especially if you are allergic to cats). There was a large tub of moldy cutlery which was off putting when wanting to use the facilities. All in all if we were not needing to stop in the area we would have moved on.

I didn't like anything at all.

The whole hotel smelled terrible. The shutters in the room wouldn't close properly, there were three flies inside that I couldn't get out, and the smell was unbearable

verouderd, gehorig maar bovenal onhygienisch. Al het afval puilde uit de prullebak en was na 48 uur nog niet verwijderd.

Guy running the place mixed up many room placements and we were running around trying to get into the right room. Stupid

Holes in the floor and wallpaper. But mainly bad attitude of the owner who can’t do his job properly

The cleanliness was brilliant, the sheets magnificent and the lovely house cleaner was so friendly I cant remember her name. The Wifi was also really good. Loved being able to take my dog. Great proximity to the small town.

Its a tired hotel given that, it was more of a back packer style accommodation with lots of people arriving later in the evening, talking in the corridors and making a little bit of noise. We were only there for the night so not really a big deal.

Nothing

Poor signage to find a door open. No staff on location nor information provided on how to access our room. The shared common room was messy. Ran the owner who indicated room was ready at 2pm and it was not. Then said it would be ready at 4pm. Blamed his staff. The place is run down and dirty. Owner used my cellphone number to give me different messages to that he was putting through Booking.com app.

Il y a un super potentiel mais il n'est pas exploité, l'hôtel est stylé, on dirait un ancien saloon du Far west, c'est marrant pour une nuit.

L'accueil est froid, il faut appeler quand on arrive, la chambre est "vide", très mal insonorisé, tout est "dans son jus", il faudrait tout rénover pour que l'expérience soit incroyable

If you want a classic Kiwi hotel experience, with 'Shining' vibes, this is it. Could be haunted if you like that sort of thing. Beds are clean n comfy

Drapes torn, some areas not vacuumed. Holes in various walls in toilets. Maintenance person seems on a long break. Says room opens on deck...but you need to crawl through window. Shared balcony. Dining room ok to make own meals but no sink. Clean dishes sometimes not available
