Mountain View Holiday Retreat

The beds were very comfortable, the place was quiet despite the amount of people staying there. And it was very central and walking distance to restaurants. Convenient location to get up to Mount Hotham.

I would score it an 8/10 for cleanliness, there was a fair few cobwebs but other than that pretty good.

The place was clean. Plenty of outdoor space for kids to play, outdoor activities. kitchen supplies.

Affordable accommodation near mountain, plenty of space in common rooms, large rooms with many beds XD and somewhat decent amenities.

Look it may not have been the comfiest beds or the most luxurious bathrooms, but honestly it was cheap accommodating and fit our needs perfectly.

Fiona the person who took my call was nice. The double bed was comfortable.

Well, first of all the contactless check-in. I understand we told that someone would not be at reception when we got there but it is very poor to leave an envelope on the door with your name on giving you instructions on where your room is and what to do next. Yes when I called up, Fiona offered to show me to where the room is but, you are paying $160 a night here. Secondly, the place advertises that there is a microwave, kettle and toaster, which there was but they are in a common room and not in the room that you are staying in. This is false advertising. Thirdly, and probably the worst is that in the bathroom there are glass shutters which are permanently open. The whole time me and my girlfriend Morin were saying there it was raining and cold. The bathroom was freezing all the time. That is why we had to keep the bathroom door closed all the time. Also, there is no central heating. There is only separate heater for each room. Again, I expected a bit better than this for $160 a night. Lastly, the other people who were staying in the other rooms have no respect in terms of keeping their voices down in the morning when some people just want to sleep in. One guest was very stupid and put milk in the kettle to boil instead of putting it in a cup and putting it into the microwave. Also, I suspect that some of the guests added more than the allocated number of people in the room. Management should really look at it. Also, no wonder the place is up for sale.

Our trip to Harrietville was an impulse decision as we were intending to extend our holiday in Bright, but were unable to find accommodation in Bright with such short notice. The location was fine if you had reason to be in Harrietville. The shared kitchen is separate to the individual bedrooms. There was plenty of (recyclable/green) paper plates and cutlery. Basic facilities like a fridge, kettle and microwave. Our bedroom had its own ensuite; shower, toilet and small basin.

I found the park to be run down. The outdoor play area especially was unusable and requires a lot of maintenance. I didn't like that the reception was unmanned (contactless check-in). The park admin were unaware of my booking until I arrived between 2 and 3pm, and I needed to call them to collect my room keys. Granted, I only booked the room that morning, but the reception being closed left the place feeling unwelcoming. That being said, the staff were very friendly when they met with me and acknowledged the mix-up with the booking on their end. The reception was still closed when I left the following morning, when I intended to drop off my room key.
