More than amenable staff Ugly Duckling Restaurant good atmosphere and service in the bar good central for birdwatching in the Forest Quiet despite being on the main road The whole place seemed to give priority to accommodating the guests Other residents said similar.

Had to Park down the road 100 yards away - not a problem but no space at the rear probably due to building work in progress. Breakfast was fine, but white plates never aesthetically right for breakfast and - I had vegetarian - the lay out of food on the plate a little to regimented - meal itself fine - presentation could be improved.

This hotel is perfect for Lydney area stays. Staff are very friendly and helpful throughout your stay.. Room was clean, bed was comfy and had everything you needed in the room. The restaurant is very modern/new and clean. Restaurant meals were perfect and very hot. Breakfast was also very good. Price for room and breakfast is very good value for money thanks..

I stayed in room 1. Very nice room. Pleanty of water pressure in sink but very low pressure in shower. Maybe shower head blocked.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and very nice and the waitress was very pleasant and accommodating.

Single pane window in the room, which had a big crack in it and didn't want to open the window in case it broke and fell out.

Our room was spotlessly clean, breakfast was ample, cooked well and presented nicely. We had dinner in the Ugly Duckling (the hotel's restaurant) which was outstanding. One particular staff member was so helpful (thankyou Chris) that it made us feel as though we were VIP guests!

Two slight niggles, the first age related, the stairs are a killer, next time we'll make sure we're not on the top floor. The only other criticism is personal to me, breakfast should have (needs) smoked bacon!

The lady looking after us was lovely very friendly and helpful could not do enough for us

Lydney and The Swan is our spiritual home every March for Cheltenham week . It's a perfect location to commute by train every day to Cheltenham. The Swan does an exceptional breakfast cooked to order . The rooms are clean and comfortable. They also have an excellent Restaurant and it's just a pity they don't do food on Monday and Tuesday . Also it would be great during Cheltenham week if the Kitchen stayed open slightly later . The staff are great and are very friendly. It's a hidden gem for Cheltenham week and we've booked again for 2027. It's also ideal for racegoers attending Chepstow. Lydney is a very quiet town but they have an excellent Indian Restaurant and a new Italian. They have an excellent Thai restaurant too The food at The Swan is excellent.

They also have an excellent Restaurant and it's just a pity they don't do food on Monday and Tuesday . Also it would be great during Cheltenham week if the Kitchen stayed open slightly later.
