Ella River Face Inn

Just outside the city center but right across from a bus stop. The family running the place are sweethearts. Always welcoming with a fresh pot of tea and some bananas from their garden. Across the road from a great hike upto a temple, cave and waterfall.

The property is located in front of a trailhead for Ella Rock. The property owner and his family are so kind. The owner greeted us upon arrival and went above and behind to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He took us on the hiking trail for a small fee and pointed out many different fruits/plants/ key points on the trail. This man has to be well into his 70s but he is an absolute machine when it came to hiking! And he was barefoot and didn’t take a sip of water. My husband and I are generally fit mid 20 years old and were struggling to keep up with him hahah. He helped arranged tuktuk rides with his son (around 500) to go into Ella which was very kind of him.

The property is down the hill from Ella and it isn’t far but because it is down hill it makes getting to the center difficult unless you have a ride. The water pressure wasn’t so great either and didn’t have much hot water. If you are a budget backpacker you understand the type of rooms you get for these prices.

Noisy road, but not too bad

Location was so bad and we were alone there there is no road lights .scary place no houses or people there except the room owner.but the people who's is rented house to us really friendly.

Loneliness and silent place I'm not about give bad comments but we have to expect the room for what we paid .but I don't want to let other visitors feel like same as us

From the start the hospitality was amazing, authentic Ceylon tea on arrival with small snacks. Lovely family running the Inn. The owner gave us great tips on where to go and what to do. He helped us get tuk tuks to drive us around and to get us to Ella station on the day we left. His son is also a tuk tuk driver and he is super friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable, the mosquito net helps a lot. The balcony view is amazing and 10/10 for individuals who aren't too high maintenance and want the authentic Ella living experience.

The place is good , but what is wonderful is the family, they let you feel like a local , really nice people, thanks mamma mia

The uncle was incredibly kind. He was very very helpful and offers some lovely tours. We highly recommend asking him to take you to Ella Rock. Be doesn't ask for payment, but we recommend tipping him around 1-2K LKR. It's completely worth it.

Owner is very nice and attentive although it was a bit hard to communicate with him in English. His son took as several times to the city center in his tuk tuk for a small fee.

Its a bit outside Ella, which is not really convenied, very close to big road, so light sleepers might complain about noise
