We had a lovely night's stay here! The hotel is located in the heart of Alfriston, on top of a historic pub that's oozing with character (and does great food too!) The room was very comfortable and a good size, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful too.

Perhaps there could've been a bit more variety to the breakfast offerings, but it was sufficient.

The character of the building - centuries of development and adaptation. Really charming. Good dining area outside. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food.

Based in a beautiful quaint village on the South downs, the Smugglers is an olde world pub with rooms. The staff were very friendly, the room was nice and clean and in keeping with the style of the pub. We ate dinner there and traditional pub food but beautifully cooked especially the steak pie and fish pie.

For the price I think they could have included breakfast. The steps up to the bedrooms are steep and narrow but they had plenty of rails and grab handles so was fine but should be considered if someone has accessibility issues
