The George Inn

Old-fashioned and quaint country pub with comfortable rooms in the peaceful hamlet of Hubberholme, a beautiful and convenient place to break the journey while walking the Dales Way. I used to come here 40 years ago with my parents and was pleased to see it little changed!

The food was a bit average. I'd arranged vegan food in advance and was catered for, for which I was grateful. But there were certainly no bells and whistles (not even a salad garnish). Wifi usage is discouraged in the bar, which sounds like a great idea, but when you're on your own and have had no signal all day, it's important to be in touch with people. The signal in the room wasn't great, so I'd have appreciated the chance to answer messages etc over dinner. However, I respect the principle. Despite all this, no real complaints - it was comfortable, quiet and friendly (at a cost.)

Such an idyllic location. Ed the owner is very friendly and made us feel so welcome and the food was amazing. We will definately be returning in the near future.

The host Ed is a great character and made us feel very welcome. The pub is well located right on the Dales Way for walkers such as ourselves. It is very quiet. A small but good choice of ales. Breakfast was very good.

The room we had in the annex had a low, sloped ceiling, but once you'd bumped your head 8 or 9 times you got used to it.
