Super food, super kind and carrying hosts!

The room is beautiful, on the river.

We scheduled the room for two nights as we climbed Sri Pada. We didn’t end up ever staying there, only left our belongings and tuk tuk. The owner wasn’t there and we had a very difficult time communicating with the family. Address is not on Google Maps. The name of homestay is slightly different on GM. Hope this helps.

Big room and very comfortable bed. Ravi was an amazing host - going out to pick up beers for me and taking me on a tour of a the local points of interest. I definitely recommend this place!

Ravi and his family were the perfect hosts. The property has the wonderful river out the back which was picturesque. The food was also delicious!

accomodation is near river, you can see with mongoose. breakfast and dinner were delicious. owner is very kind and polite. he took us to day tour around Hatton for good price. Bed was confortable. room was clean.

Ravi arranged a trip to Adams peak with his brother and that was a great experience. His brother Puvan was very friendly, actively suggested places to stop and take some photos and found us a great spot to stop for tea. Overall made the trip to Adams peak a very enjoyable one and made for great company as well.

Honestly I put off leaving this review as I don’t like to leave bad reviews, especially when I understand in a country such as Sri Lanka, resources are limited and people are trying to make an income to provide for their families. However I booked this place based off reviews, I knew it wasn’t a five star accommodation but it was well below my expectations. When I first arrived Ravi showed me the room, when he showed me the shower it had zero pressure and dribbled out 2-3 drops of water at a time, he didn’t seem to think this was an issue and didn’t acknowledge or offer an alternative solution. My basic expectation is the place would have a viable shower which was not the case. The room had hair all over the floor and the toilet seat was dirty which I cleaned myself, making me think the place hadn’t been cleaned since the last visitor. I can understand limited resources, And less than ideal conditions, but there has to be an effort to make the place clean and hospitable which just wasn’t the case. Overall it didn’t feel as though the place was suitable to be having guests and the total bill was another surprise, the one meal I had was double the price of what I paid at adams peak and half the quality, as well the Tuk Tuk ride from the train station to his house and back to the bus station were triple the price of what I would have paid from any other Tuk Tuk driver. Ultimately I paid relatively similar money to what I paid to stay in Ella with 1/10th the quality/comfort. As mentioned earlier my intent in writing this review is not of malice but instead to give any prospective travellers a heads up of what they may expect, perhaps this was just a one off bad experience and hopefully that is the case. But had I known this was the type of stay I was in for I would have booked elsewhere.

Gorgeous location with waterfall view, welcoming and generous family, delicious food.

We had such a wonderful stay here. First of all, Ravi and his wife were so nice and helpful and served us an amazing breakfast! The location of the hotel on top of the water pools makes for a beautiful view from the balcony and the sound of the running water is soothing. The beds are amazingly comfortable and I had the best sleep here. Loved all the plants and the stairs and would definitely recommend staying here.
