"Absolutely awful ."

1.0

Location

It was early May . The room had two outside walls and single glazed windows . From when I arrived the room was freezing cold .I arrived at 3pm and needed to get ready for an important black tie event . I was told the heating would come on at 5pm it did not I, I went to the bar at 5.25 pm to ask if the heating was coming on ? .The Landlady was very aggressive to me , telling me how " Its very expensive to run the heating " I reminded her I had paid £100 for one night and I expected to have a warm room . The Landlord said to me " Go outside and sit in the sun " I would also mention the plumbing in the bathroom is ALL run through a macerator which is very noisy . So likely to disturb you partner if you visit the loo during the night . I decided not to shower because of the noise it would make and I didn't want to disturb other guests . Would I recommend this place , Definitely not . The breakfast was OK but the instant coffee was awful . The waitress was lovely as was the barman ,

"Castle Inn"

7.0

Hosts were excellent, went extra mile to ensure we had a comfortable stay, nothing was too much. Breakfast was nice, and good value for money.

Cosmetically the hotel is a little dated.Slept on and off through the night as mattress was hard.

"ok for an overnight stay as it is so close to the channel tunnel."

3.0

owner and staff very pleasant. great location in a quaint village. The hotel has not recovered from the effects of covid and could do with a visit from channel 5's Hotel Inspector. Great potential with a few changes.

The hotel looked neglected, outside needed painting, garden was unkempt, outside furniture was shabby. The rear entrance (when the inn was closed) was down a back alley with empty casks and was quite shabby. Although everywhere was clean it looked run down . We stayed on a bank holiday Saturday night and the inn closed just after 8pm with only a couple of other guests staying.

Short walk (1 mile) into Hythe

Bed was softer than I am used to but I think that is luck of the draw anywhere you stay. Sunday hours for restaurant and bar were limited but given its location, understandable.

"A good place to stay in a beautiful village. We slept well after a long walk."

Very good breakfast. Good shower and comfortable room. Good supper and drinks.

Not a criticism as the hosts are really hard working, but I wished they had had more help.
