The Coylet Inn by Loch Eck

The snuggle doon pod was exceptional, had everything we needed and more. The pod was comfortable and the welcome pack that was provided by the owners was lovely. Staff went above and beyond, were very friendly and inviting.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike.

Location is exceptional Restaurant food is excellent

Heating was broken so room temperature was fridge like when we arrived 30/12/25. Was fixed next day but still only achieved lukewarm. Staff were not welcoming, we felt like an inconvenience any time we asked for information or tea/coffee for room. Website stated breakfast on request, we were told late on 30/12/25 that breakfast isn’t available for our stay over New Year. As everywhere local was closed for the holiday this presented quite a hurdle. Our purpose for trip was to experience an authentic Scottish New Year celebration. When we asked after this 30/12/25 we were told that the band cancelled a few months ago and they hadn’t been able to replace them. Instead they were having themed Karaoke. We had to ask what the theme was, ‘masquerade’ unfortunately we didn’t have anything with us because this hadn’t been communicated. The bar area is charming but extremely small, we struggled to get served drinks during New Year’s Eve and ended up playing cards in the restaurant room. We quite simply felt excluded throughout. We did manage to eat in the restaurant once during our 3 day visit, the food is outstanding and our compliments to the waitresses, who were friendly and attentive. Overall I wouldn’t return, don’t feel it was value for money as room had floor tiles lifting in the bathroom and skirting board falling away, amongst other issues; door lock seemed to have been forced, it was very loose and made locking the door difficult and heating issues. Fortunately we like to get out and were able to make the most of this beautiful area. We discovered during our stay that it’s currently run by an English couple…so we’re still in pursuit of an authentic Scottish New Year celebration.

Leider war es extrem kalt. Und für große Menschen ist diese Unterkunft auch einfach nicht geeignet. Außerdem ist es extrem hellhörig.

Room was ok, comfortable bed and bathroom well equipped

Cold room, eventually got another heater. Stairs up to room were dangerous and husband slipped down them. Also when returning after a lovely evening in Dunoon and returning to our room to go to bed a number of residents returned and let themselves into the bar and had a party for hours. It was directly under our room which meant we were kept awake for hours. There were no staff so was able to continue into the small hours. We ended up leaving property early to make our way home as we couldn’t settle.

The Coylet has kept the original charm of a 17th Centuary Inn. The food is excellent and the staff are welcoming from the moment you walk through the door until the moment you leave. The food was excellent and the rooms are extremely comfortable and have kept the feel of an Inn built is 1650. This place just reeks of character. You won't be disappointed.

Our toilet seat was a bit squeejee but 1 phone call and it was sorted within 5 minutes.

Beautiful Location. Superb views. Charming place. Staff were excellent.

It's such a relaxed atmosphere at the inn.. the staff are wonderful. Amazing view of the loch from the bedroom.
