Aguila de Osa Rainforest Lodge

The location, the staff, the food, and the facility were all wonderful. We could not recommend this hotel more highly. Additionally, the guides for the various tours were also very good.

It was very hot and humid, but that's part of the experience.

Great to chill, very friendly personel

The property is super remote hidden in an inlet in Drake Bay. Picture a scene from a James Bond movie and that should help you picture it!

The property went out of their way to accommodate our food preferences - we are all vegan and my wife is gluten free, but I still wish there were more food options. There was a set menu each night and could have been a better move to have a la carte options like they did with the breakfast menu. Like I said though, they really went above and beyond to accommodate our preferences so I can’t really complain.

Beautiful secluded lodge that is only accessible by boat or plane. Either option means it's a memorable arrival and departure. We were treated to a pod of humpback whales showing off on our return journey. Everything from cold towels and welcome drink on arrival to tour availability and stunning food, was great. I'm GF and they made an exceptional effort, always providing suitable alternatives. All the staff worked tirelessly and seemed very well organised and super friendly. Really enjoyed communal dining in the evening and met some lovely people along the way. Free use of kayaks was a bonus.

Our room was terraced and so I felt that the air flow was rather restricted with no side windows. There were 2 decent fans but still there wasn't much respite from the humidity.

tour prices are extremly high and the hotel didn´t arrange a tour on the day of departure. with another tour operator that was no problem.

The hotel is very close to the Corcovado National Park, just a 20mins boat ride to the San Pedrillo station. All the activities are well organised, the staff is friendly and helpful. We managed to see two humpback whales which was fantastic. For such a remote place, the food was unexpectedly very good, especially the dinner menus that change every day.

The structure opened 30 years ago and is in desperate need of renovation, especially the rooms. You can hear your neighbours cough, talk, basically do anything. The shutters were falling apart, so the artificial light from the external areas was quite annoying in a place where you go to be immersed in nature. The beach is a 15-20mins walk away and you have to cross the jungle to get there, fun but not too convenient. It is however good value for money as everything else in the area is outrageously expensive.
