Afro Beach eco Resort Butre

We loved the quiet atmosphere right on the beach. We watched the fishermen bring in their catch. The food was fantastic and it was lovely to get fresh coconut milk straight from the tree beside our room. The family were very attentive and the son was an amazing tour guide.

It was a long adventurous journey from Accra but looking back was part of the fun.

The location was beautiful - long stretch of clean, uncrowded beach only steps away from our room. It was very peaceful and scenic. There is a large lagoon and fishing village to the west and huge rock outcropping and fishing village to the east. The food was outstanding. The staff was great.

The internet worked most of the time and our calls dropped sometimes. But we were there to relax and enjoy the beach so it wasn't much of an issue for us.

Lovely accommodation in a really good location. Loved the roof top balcony to sit and look out over the beach and ocean. Staff were excellent, so friendly and welcoming. Dora cooked fabulous tasty meals , and Josephine, Solo and Ruth were always on hand to help us. Francis the owner is also friendly and helpful. He is trying hard to keep improving the services. There are plenty of trips on offer. We chose to paddle up the river, and saw small alligators up the trees! It was the most relaxing break we have had. It was my birthday and the staff all sang happy birthday and we had cake. Dora also makes the most delicious coconut biscuits. I am really hoping that we can go back there again sometime.

We had an unforgettable time at the Afro Beach Eco Resort. The location is absolutely amazing, slowing you down from your everyday life, surrounded by nature. Butre with it's own history and friendly residents is just a short walk down the beach. Even more significant is the people at the resort. Dora is a really nice person and her cooking skills are amazing. Whish we could eat like that every day. And then there is Francis the owner. You just have to love him. He's really open minded, generous, has a lot of humor and his smile is contagious. Spending time with him was the most fun for me I had in Ghana. I learned a lot about "the real life" and culture of Ghanians by talking to him and I'm really grateful for that. If we ever decide to visit Ghana again we'll definitely come back here.

I enjoyed everything, the location, the sea was very neat, the reception received from Francis was super cool. i enjoyed the trip very much.

The food was not the best, ranging from breakfast to lunch. i think they are good with the local food but not in continental dishes.

The beach view was amazing! The room was cozy with a mini bar. The property is also close (~1hr hike) to coconut beach and Fort Batenstein and butre village which was great. The atmosphere and the surrounding was very peaceful and scenic. It is also an Eco friendly resort. We loved it!

The food is amazing and right portions. The ocean, the whole vibe of the place is exceptional. Customer service is great and hosts are accommodating especially since we checked in late. Sunrise and sunset is amazing. The brief tour to Ft. Batenstein was meaningful. This place reminds me of beau vallon in Seychelles is really really a gem and something valuable to Ghana♥️

I wish the toilet in the suite above the bar (this room is still amazing by the way) was private maybe with a door just to contain the smell if other people are in the room yet facing the unobstructed ocean taking a morning dump still feels amazing lol. Also wish the bathroom was not downstairs but because we booked the other rooms (double rooms) we shared the shower there and those showers we loved. Honestly it’s not that we didn’t like the advice but things that can be improved. The owner’s story is amazing so we wish him all the best and growth♥️
