Nothing it was all wonderful.

Wonderful place, a real paradise! Vala House is one of the best places I have ever stayed. They have only 4 beautiful rooms with backwater view and a wonderful terrace. So relaxing. Wonderful breakfast, they serve you even the dinner you can order in a nearby superb restaurant (Liliput). Extremely nice staff, they organize everything for you. Somebody of them (unfortunately I do not remember his name, he was so nice!) came with me to the nearby so interesting fish harbour. I can only recommend, much better than every 5 star hotel

The staff. They are excellent: friendly, efficient, and eager to fulfill our demands. Then the food again was superb; but I think there is one limitation. We had traditional Kerala food. I doubt if one can get European or American cuisine. Rooms and toilets were clean.

Start with the reservation process through Booking.com. It is not what it used to be. I had a non-refundable reservation. But soon after the reservation the property started contacting me for advance payment. They stopped only after I made the payment. The property compound was a bit dusty. The staircase is very steep and steps high.

Vala House is a bit away from Cherai beach and crowds. Its very calm and pleasant at this homestay. Cherai beach can be reached with a bit of walking. Kuzhupilly beach is a little away from the property. Breakfast was excellent and right on time. Lulu and Kabir was very helpful and wearing smile all the time. Happy to chose this property.

Nothing to complain. Dinner needs to be ordered from other restaurants nearby. Any alternative to address this would be beneficial.
