The Gulaal

A very well maintained and clean property with well appointed interiors and swimming pool. Very polite and helpful staff. A special mention for Babu who manages the reception very efficiently and has all the required information. Virendra ji, the owner is also very hands on and available. Kudos to him for running this beautiful guest house!!

The staff were so lovely and the suites were huge. Showers were nice and hot and large. The swimming pool was a nice addition, even though it was freezing water due to time of year it was nice to relax by the pool. We enjoyed the breakfast and rooftop to view sunset. There was a lovely view of the fort as well. Slightly out of the centre so was nice quiet and peaceful.

Orientation of the pool meant no real sunlight, so only a small window for direct sunlight and warm water to swim in. No parking inside the hotel walls, so had to look for alternative arrangements. Maybe make this a bit more explicit as although the listing shows free parking, it is not in the safety of the hotel. There is no driver facilities due to no real parking area.

This is a fantastic hotel. The beautiful architecture, the swimming pool, our enormous suite, beautiful view of the fort, the food. The staff are very friendly, efficient and kind.

There was nothing to dislike about this hotel except we didn’t stay long enough

The exterior and interior design and decor and the attention given to detail. The cleanliness. The view of the Fort from the rooftop restaurant. The friendly staff who always did their very best to take care of us. And above all, the amazing owner and soul of The Gulaal, Virendra, always present, always helpful. I have often written in reviews how important it is, as a guest, to have this soul, the presence of an owner or good manager, in the hotel. Also admired him immensely for his love of the beautiful old, intricately carved stone havelis, and for his continuous effort to preserve them

The Gulaal is a haven that we enjoyed retreating to each evening. It has a beautiful pool area and rooftop restaurant that has a view of the fort. The decore is excellent and rooms are beautiful.

The restaurant menu is only accessible online which made it difficult to access and small in print size. I like a hardcopy menu. Also bills were not supplied after meals unless you requested this. It could be open to abuse.

Service was excellent, the stay was pleasant. Food was too good.

Nothing as such

The Gulaal definitely stands out in terms of the architecture. If you are looking for a stay that covers all the bases: stay, comfort, hospitality, service, friendly staff, safety.. consider staying at Gulaal. We were a family of 4 and loved the exclusivity and service.

I would say the food was average. This opinion could be biased considering the hotel caters to all kinds of visitors, national and international. The food is cooked in a great way to attend to guests of all nationalities in terms of spicyness.
