Impossible Motel

Easy check in and polite and friendly staff. The room was comfortable and everything we needed for a night away. Really cool atmosphere and peaceful. No noise and a real feeling of “getting away”. Shower was decent which is always a big plus. The bed was incredibly comfy. I’ll be visiting again

Hotel was great! Staff was great! The drunk people on the streets, screaming until 04:30 were not great. Hotel was very centrally located which we loved but it resulted in many sleepless nights because of the noise. Obviously not the hotels fault, just something to be mindful of.

Basement room very noisy and extremely small, we were even handed ear plugs on arrival! So a very unpleasant and noisy first night. Second night we moved to an upstairs room, which was nice until the electricity in the room failed at 10:30 pm. With no one available to check this out but the night porter we spent our second night cold and in the dark. In the morning we had to wash and dress by phone torch light. When we complained it was evident that the staff did not believe us even though the fault was witnessed by the porter. It took an age to get any type of compensation (half money back for the second night only) and this took complaints via Expedia and at least five calls to the hotel. Avoid... it is not nearly as good as it looks in the photographs.

First time staying here on a Christmas shopping trip with my sister. Absolutely perfect location. The hotel itself is stunning, the decor and room was beautiful. The staff are a credit as all so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Before checking out we've already decided we want to return next year.

Cane to York for a last minute work event for Halloween and came across this place and oh my god i never wanted to leave. The night manager when i was there was absolutely wonderful and so helpful

Booked the red room for my partner's birthday & it was amazing. We were greeted upon arrival and escorted to the main reception where I got to choose a scented soap for the room during our stay, as well as a bath bomb as our room had a freestanding bath with it. The room itself had a few options for lighting too, so we had a few choices for how bright or dark the room was during our stay. Your key card let's you in and out 24 hours a day, and there is always someone at reception should you require anything, at any time during your stay. It's truly a unique place to stay, I'll be booking again in the future. (yes, you do hear noise but you're in an adults only city location hotel, so I'd say noise is to be expected. it was minimal - and nothing we hadn't already heard from previous hotel stays over the years) It's also the original location for the Terry's chocolate shop! (he made the chocolate orange that so many people love)

From the moment we arrived we felt really well looked after. The room was definitely an adventure considering it was underground. We loved it though, so well thought out, and brilliantly done. We woukd definitely return again.

Staff were friendly once we were there, but the roo. We had booked had to have maintenence, so theyd rang me multiple times to change rooms. Often they were confused and had no idea why theyd rang me or said id rang them to cancle when theyd rang me. Bed was way too hard, musoc from the bar above was also too loud. I feel it ahould state that there will be music when you book the roooms. Personal choice of soap and bathbomb for the room were a really nice choice. Personally woulsnt stay here again, i feel for that price I expect a goood nights sleep and the hard bed and noise is a no from us.
