The Commodore Hotel

The Commodore hosted a family and friends reunion with afternoon tea in the sun room facing the beach. The staff were amazingly friendly, welcoming and attentive. They made the day very special.

Friendly staff. Clean and nicely presented decor. Spacious dining room and lounge.

Room a bit on the small side and shower over bath.

Very friendly staff and a comfortable room. Ate in on one night and the food was delicious. Excellent breakfast.

The staff Were all super friendly and helpful, especially Gary. The hotel is spotless, and the decor very tasteful.

The rooms were not very soundproof.

Great lunch. We really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back for another meal. Food was hot, fresh and tasted great. Great menu choice. Very clean and spacious, with beautiful views across Instow beach to Appledore. Plenty of free parking. Rose wine was very nice, light and crisp. Attentive staff. Relaxed feel in a light, modern restaurant. Only downside was that I hadn't left any room for dessert.

We recently held our mum’s funeral wake at The Commador Hotel, and also stayed there, and I can honestly say the experience was exceptional from start to finish. At such a difficult time, the staff showed incredible care, professionalism, and compassion. Everything was handled seamlessly, allowing us to focus on being together as a family without any added stress. The service was truly impeccable — attentive without being intrusive, and always delivered with kindness. The food was absolutely amazing, with every guest commenting on both the quality and presentation. It made a real difference to the day and created a warm, welcoming atmosphere for everyone who attended. The hotel itself is in such a special position, with beautiful surroundings that bring a sense of calm and reflection — something that meant a great deal to us on such an emotional occasion. It truly added to the overall experience and made the day feel even more meaningful. Our stay at the hotel was equally comfortable, and it was a relief to have such a peaceful and well-run place to return to after everything. We are so grateful to the entire team for making a difficult occasion that little bit easier. I would highly recommend The Commador Hotel for both events and stays.

Great location, warm welcome. Clean comfrey rooms with a great view. Lovely breakfast to start the day. Loads and easy parking.

Friendly staff Food was excellent and a broad range, and chef was prepared to make adjustments for the kids meals which really helped. Rooms were very clean and the views out to sea were superb. We were made to feel so comfortable, it doesn't get any better than that.

No complaints - some areas looked a little dated - but it didn't matter or change our experience.
