Lovely hotel right on the beach. Staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We dined in the restaurant during our stay, the food was first class. If you are looking for a relaxed break we would highly recommend the Commodore Hotel.

Always a pleasure to stay at the Commodore. Food is fantastic, staff so attentive , view to die for. Everything perfect, which is why we keep returning.

The best service I have ever experienced! We were given first class attention throughout our stay. The room (and balcony view!) was excellent and the food was superb. We will definitely be staying again!

My wife booked this hotel for 3 nights as a surprise anniversary break, and what a fabulous choice she made! Instow enjoys magnificent views across the river to Appledore, and the hotel has a prime spot. Our room had a large balcony on the front, and the room was warm and welcoming inside. The hotel restaurant deserves a special mention as every meal was outstanding. The hotel has a talented chef and team in the kitchen, with carefully prepared breakfast choices each day and absolutely superb evening meals, presented with excellent attention to detail; the featherblade of beef was particularly good. As it was our anniversary, we were given complimentary drinks and chocolates, which was unexpected and very welcome. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a mini break or special occasion, and we will certainly return in the future.

Evening meal was excellent . We was offer tea when we arrived and we thought that was a lovely touch. Everywhere was spotless clean . The shower was a bit slow

As always the Commodore was a delight.Gary and Tina were most welcoming and let me have one of their newly refurbished rooms facing the estuary. i did not have an evening meal but the breakfast was excellent. thank you to Gary and the team. best wishes Simon Smith AKA the Bear

As on previous visits to this lovely hotel, everything was perfect. My husband has mobility issues and although there was no ground floor room available when I booked, on check in we were given a ground floor room. Dinner was excellent, as was breakfast and all the staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, even the offer of help with bags out to the car in the pouring rain. Thank you and see you again soon we hope.

This was our third short stay (3 nights) of 2025. We love the place! The service standard is outstanding, and our room was lovely with panoramic views across the water to Appledore. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. We shall certainly be returning.
