Chough’s nest is just so lovely! It has really cosy family feel to it. The views were outstanding! Really clean, and serviced beautifully every day. Breakfast was really delicious!

Just fabulous! Where shall we start?! The views are a given- utterly fabulous over the Bristol Channel. The beds are comfortable, supportive and crisper linen you’ll not find anywhere. The room was cleaned and the bed remade everyday, everything refreshed as if it was our first day there. The shower is powerful and hot, exactly what you want after a day’s hiking. The breakfast is superb, highly recommend the yoghurt with homemade fruit compote to start with and the Welsh rarebit is amazing. For dinner the menu may look a tad sedate but I have never ever had such a fluffy cheese soufflé IN MY LIFE. On another guest’s recommendation we tried the chicken and leek pie the following night and oh my word, they couldn’t have put more chicken inside it had they tried. Truly delicious. Highly recommend the cinnamon apple crumble and the plum and almond tart too. They also made a truly delicious ultra chocolatey birthday cake on request, far better than anything shop bought. Just superb fresh home cooking courtesy of Helen and front of house expertly run by Kate. Let’s not forget the homemade cakes available to take away on the mornings of our walks, we were blessed with the moistest of delicious chocolate banana cake -huge wedges too!- and the next day crispy yet soft and delicious flapjack. The hotel is ideally situated for any walks along the South West coast path and forays into North Devon. Simon’s been coming here for many years- which says it all really 🤷 We will return again with pleasure!
