Chough's Nest Hotel

Very quiet with magnificent views from our bedroom, well located for coastal path walks. Delicious breakfast and dinner and also help yourself to home-made cake and fruit for your lunch picnic. Delightful stay in an authentic Victorian setting with a very warm welcome and service.

Nothing “not” to like but you do need to be able to cope with steps to enjoy your stay.

This is a gem of a hotel not only with lots of character and history but with beautiful views from the room. The hosts are amazing making us feel very welcome. The room was spotless, very comfortable bed and the breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked to order. There were homemade cakes and fruit available to take away as a snack which was very welcome especially if you were walking around the area. We spent our honeymoon here 40yrs ago and can definitely say we enjoyed this stay even better than the 1st time we came. Be aware there is a slope/steps to the entrance of hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here having received a warm welcome from our host to this charming and interesting building. The room was spotless and cosy with stunning views overlooking Lynmouth . There was a good choice of breakfast which was delicious and filling. Big thumbs up from us, we would certainly want to return in the future.

An exceptional hotel, fantastic breakfast, very comfortable room. There were various delicious homemade cakes available to take after breakfast which was definitely welcome after all the walking we did. The hosts are amazing.

What a totally amazing family run hotel. So cosy and friendly with excellent food and sumptuous rooms. Our idea of heaven...our spiritual go to place to recover from lifes stresses. Will be returning soon to completely soak up the ambience.

Substantial amount of food and choice was excellent

The food and service was excellent. Kate and her sister were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble. The view from our top floor room was splendid and the bed very comfortable. Great location for walking the coast path and easy stroll to town and cliff railway.

A steep path and lots of steps to the front door. Limited headroom on stairs and top floor landing, under roof beams with room under dormer... But then I am 6'4" so don't be too put off!

Just read the other reviews on this hotel - they say it all and I concur completely. Everything about the place is wonderful. I did lots of walking during my four night stay but it is the kind of place that you could simply stay in and go nowhere and still have a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful and memorable break. And do try the evening meals - delicious. And it must be stressed how reasonable the prices are for everything - and there is a real sense the owners believe in that reasonableness. I stayed one more night in Dorset on my way home in another hotel that was only £10 cheaper per night and the contrast was vast - it was like staying in a doss house compared to Chough's Nest!

What a lovely place to stay. Great location, with beautiful sea views. By day you have glorious views over Lynmouth, and the bay and cliffs beyond. Stunning. At night you can see the lights of the south coast of Wales from your window. Stayed in a superior double room. It was large, spacious, had comfy chairs, and a very comfortable bed. The en suite was modern, and everything worked as it should. Breakfast was lovely. Lots of options, but the full English was my choice… I didn’t need lunch after that! Vegetarian options too. The staff are wonderful. So friendly and helpful. They work so hard to make the stay perfect. Long story short, it’s a lovely place to stay, to visit from, and very pleasant to return to. Highly recommended. Thank you for a lovely stay.
