The Poachers Hotel

Lots of parking. Zavinta was lovely and very apologetic.

The booking page says you’ll get a text with a code to collect your key from a lockbox 24 hours before your stay, which never happened. The venue didn’t answer our multiple phone calls or respond to our voicemails (we tried 3 different phone numbers over the course of 4 hours, as the first one provided by Booking.com was out of service) or reply to our message through Booking.com. We had to drive 100 miles to the hotel with no idea if we actually had somewhere to stay. The room was freezing cold and unsafe for our newborn to sleep in, but there is no one on site after about 9pm so we had to ring a mobile number for an off-site staff member to drive 30 minutes to the hotel and provide a portable heater. The hot and cold taps were connected the wrong way round too.

Nice clean and cosy. Very quiet despite being near main road. Stephen very pleasant

Only one mug given. Complimentary toiletries were very poor.

The bed was comfy and it looked like a nice clean place

The hotel was freezing cold, they only put heat on when you were about to check in, a nail on the floor ripped the heal off my shoes, this isn’t good they need to do something about this and no one was there on check out to talk to

Staff were friendly. Clean and fairly quiet being in main road. Pub side is nice but hardly used.

No reception (arrived late but had pre warned them at 9.15pm) had a job to get in as no lights on and key boxes were fiddly. Bar didn’t open until 5, so not great. Electric heaters in room click noisily every half hour or so didn’t get much sleep. No breakfast as had to pre book but your site won’t allow this.

Room was well appointed and comfortable. Easy to find

I arrived at 6.30 to be told I couldn't have food because they were hosting a wake, and the bar would close at 8.00. Don't seem to be hospitality focused at all
