De Charm Hạ Long Hotel

Mattress was very comfortable. Shower was good. Room is spacious.

We are baffled by the good score this place has, we are convinced they are writing the good reviews themselves. First room we entered smelt so bad of mould, and the sheets were dirty. Straight away the receptionist knocked on the door and said is this room clean? We said no, so we got moved to another room. The second room still smelt of damp/mould. And the sheets still didn’t look clean. The duvet stuffed inside the wardrobe (which isn’t optional, you need it because there is only a bottom sheet on the bed) was filthy with dirt marks all over it. We had to go down and ask for a full new set of bedding which we had to then change ourselves, and worryingly when we were down there, there was another person at reception complaining about the exact same thing. They clearly do not change bedding between stays. Pillows were home made see image.

We booked de charm but they said it was full, they then told us to follow this man to the "love hotel". We were confused and they were a bit rude. We booked a room for 4 people but only received 2 pillows, while checking in they give us the 2 pillows to carry ourselves. This also meant we only had 2 towels. The blanket was weirdly placed in the closet, there was no remote for the TV or the air-conditioning. We had to pay for the water that was not in the mini bar. The shower would only very very cold or boiling hot.

The hotel is on a hotel strip and the best way to travel is by vehicle. You can walk like we did but there last nothing for about 20 minutes.

Only stayed a night and in the partner hotel a few doors down due to an issue with the Aircon. Staff were nice. Comfortable bed and good air con.

Only limited or expensive food options nearby. Good for a night.

Super nice price! And the quality is also really good. Nice possibilities to activities and a nice laundry service. The location is also good even though is is pretty calm in this area.
