Rockside Cabanas Hotel

Very nice hotel. We stayed only one night. Wish we could stay for more. Absolutely recommended. Nice beach in front of hotel on which you can see turtles.

We had a wonderful stay at Rockside, the location right on the beach is fantastic as are the garden and pool. Spacious well equipped rooms, incredibly friendly and helpful staff and really good food. I would thoroughly recommend it, the only negative was the wifi speed which was at times very slow and made working difficult but if you don’t need to work it is fine!

We had a two night stay at the Rockside Cabanas. It is a beautiful setting. There aren’t too many places in the world you can sit sipping cocktails whilst watching turtles bob in the water just offshore. All staff were so welcoming and genuinely looked after us. Delicious and reasonably priced menu. Enjoyed the relaxing massage!

I rented one of the beachside cabanas, was a beautiful location and view. Staff are very friendly and eager to help. Management excellent, cleaners and maintenance man do a great job, dining room staff delightful. Recommend bringing reef shoes for traversing the rocks to Turtle Beach. Pool was lovely. Quick 50 rupiah bus ride into Unawatuna proper.

Staff were friendly and the grounds were lovely. Beach outside the hotel is too rough for swimming but a calmer patch where the turtles come is just a short walk away. Some ok eating options around - Radisson just a 5 min walk away. Pool was nice. We stayed for two nights.

We didn’t think it was value for money. Very overpriced for what you get. We stayed in a cabana. It was dark and the Aircon barely worked. The safe wasn’t working when we got there. Breakfast - for $150 a night I would expect more than egg and toast with some fruit for breakfast. On the second day we were offered a curry and rice option but at the price we paid I would expect to have far more options and decent tea and coffee included. I noticed other guests were opting to pay for the à la carte breakfast menu. If you want a latte with your breakfast be ready to pay more. As soon as we arrived they sat us down and gave us the hard sell on their seafood platter.

Fantastic accommodation, beautiful Cabanas, extremely supportive stuff (got an upgrade, they helped with a very stable internet connection to be able to work even in times of the floodings and power outages in autumn 2025. Cabanas are really beautiful, food in the restaurant very tasty. And direct beach access is available as well - plus it´s not a long ride to visit Galle.

Incompetent staff across the board. Room wasn't cleaned unless you asked for it. Once it wasn't cleaned when asking for it. Wifi doesn't work, they make excuses but it doesn't work. Whole trip was a constant pain.
