Dune de L'orient

The location of the hotel is good. The heritage factor of the hotel & the fact I was last there 21 years ago when it was in previous ownership.

The hotel needs more care and attention. Whilst our room was very nice, the bathroom was poor, basic towels, little in the way of shower gel/soap etc. the hot water was scalding hot. There are no lounge/relaxing areas in the hotel. It’s either your room or the restaurant. The restaurant needs a real overhaul. The menu seems extensive but little was available during our stay. Breakfast was a real disappointment, from reading the hotel website we were expecting a good French/Indian breakfast but it was very basic and poorly refurbished, even though only a few people were in evidence. Apart from one or two members of the staff in the restaurant, the staff seemed rather disinterested and were on their phones a lot. We don’t want to be unfair, but we were really looking forward to going back there after so long, and were sorry that Dune Wellness do not seem to have made the most of such a gorgeous historical hotel.

The location is great and the restaurant is excellent. Beautifully restored old building and decor. We appreciated being able to change to a room on the first floor with daylight through the windows!

The first room we stayed in was on ground floor and windows facing courtyard so having daylight was a challenge. The bathroom was rudimentary in ground floor room.

Charming and peaceful

Loved the 18 Century building/ layout / vibe of place was more than expected for 3 STAR... would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. Staff were FANTASTIC and ALL were polite and really made an effort even with limited English.

No fridge in room - When I requested the Staff were fantastic and arranged replacement(Think the original must have broken down & removed??) next day staff had one installed in room so we could have cold water/drinks etc Really appreciated as the days are hot 30-35 degrees.

Firstly specify type of room you would like, DO NOT ACCEPT THE ATTIC ROOM. Good breakfast and good dinner menu. Nice wine selection and cold beer. The manager and staff were very helpful and tried to please. The property is charming and well located in white town. The beach is close by. A lovely courtyard to eat and drink in.

The location

Room is overpriced for what it is and very dark. Reception staff were not very welcoming upon arrival which is just unprofessional.

The shower was broken and I would taste bathroom maintenance 7/10
