Hotel Tortuguero Beachfront

Amazing location. Was very impressed how organised the hotel was. There was someone expecting us when we parked the car to catch the river boat and again someone was waiting for us when we arrived to guide us to the hotel. The hotel was lovely, excellent outdoor reception area which was lovely to sit in and relax and watch the wildlife. The room was small but comfortable. Make sure you do the river canals tour at 6am and book through the hotel. Was so well organised and informative. Walking along the beach and on the walking trails of the National Park was also a highlight of the stay. Beautiful area to visit.

Friendly and supportive staff who helped in solving all issues (e.g. no hot water in room, and new room given instead), great massage experience.

There was no indication on booking site about the fact that car needs to be left behind and a ferry/motorboat to be taken to approach the hotel (one hour route on a river) with heavy luggage included. The weather was pretty rainy, which, of course was not hotel's fault, but the road from port to hotel was muddy and be ready for a mud race on foot in wet weather. A pavement and indication about hotel directions would be very much needed. Room was small, and having rest was difficult due to thin walls. Garden needs some care.

The location is perfect! The bungalow is very comfortable. The staff was great!

There are no bar service in the hotel.

Combining laid-backless with light jungle luxury for a great price this place is right “central” in the Tortuguero village (something that we didn’t realise how important it is when booking). The pool is delightful, and the beach-stretch also. Combining a morning maritime tour with a self-administered walk in the National park in the afternoon is splendid, and the place can recommend the best tours, set you up with massage in the in-house mini-spa or just be generally lovely. Air-con worked well.

Our neighbours were having loud fights and we heard them a bit though the walls, but only when the AC was off. It was hard to get an aggressive enough water pressure in the shower to make all the sand from beach-sandy feet disappear quickly.
