Biei Shirogane Onsen Hotel Park Hills

Perfect location but too old hotel. Room and bed need to be redone 100%

Great onsen but the road to takachifake ski area closed so had to drive the long way via kamafurano

The service was excellent - I was picked up at Asahikawa Airport when I arrived and dropped off at Asahikawa Station when I left, and they run evening tours to the blue pond. I also loved the breakfast and dinner - there were plenty of vegetarian options - and Shirahige Falls are a two minute walk from the hotel, and absolutely beautiful. The concierge came running out to grab my suitcase when I arrived and knew me by name when I went on the blue pond excursion and when I checked out.

The rooms could use updating (that said, they clearly spend their money on staff and customer service which is a better use for it) and the bathroom had a bit of a sulfur smell to it which was unpleasant, but keeping the bathroom door closed stopped the room from smelling.

Great location. Close to everything we wanted to do. Sauna, cold bath were great to see with the rest of the onsen baths.

The staff was not particularly helpful or friendly. Our wifi did not work for over 12 hours without being fixed. The beds were very old and uncomfortable.
