Easy to find, nice environment, beautiful and clean room. The staff were all very helpful and lovely.

Cobwebs in bedroom. Kitchen extractor fan making a very intrusive continuous noise outside bedroom window, started at about 6 am and stopped after 9 pm

I’ve always loved The Farmhouse in Mackworth — I even got married there and make a point of visiting four or five times a year. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing and a far cry from what it used to be. The evening started well. We ordered our starters via the app, and they arrived within ten minutes — hot, tasty, and well presented. Sadly, that’s where things began to go downhill. We couldn’t order our mains on the app due to technical issues, but that wasn’t a big problem; I went to the till and ordered five meals plus several sides. However, no one came to clear our starter plates or cutlery — and we noticed other guests stacking empty dishes onto nearby vacant tables themselves. After a long wait, only four of the five main meals arrived. The fifth meal and all of the sides were missing. I asked a young waitress to check, but ten minutes passed and no one returned with an update. We asked again, and staff apologised, but the sides never turned up at all. The final meal only arrived after the rest of us had finished eating. When we raised the issue, the manager offered 40% off — which we already had through a current promotion. In the end, we weren’t charged for the missing sides, and they refunded the late meal, but by that point the damage was done. The bar was practically empty on a Saturday night, and the whole atmosphere felt tired and deflated. It honestly made me sad to see how far things have slipped. I truly hope The Farmhouse can turn things around, but at this rate, I worry it might not be open this time next year.

Breakfast and dinner were extremely good plus the service was both friendly and efficient.

The bathroom was cramped and difficult to use as the angled steps were tricky causing us some concern. The toilet seat was too small and shaky. The steps up to the bedrooms and on the restaurant we're something to made us very cautious. Some of this could be due to the age of the building as fitting a lift might not have been possible.

Little expensive for location. Not sure why so dear this time

My husband and I stayed in the honeymoon suite in August 2024 for our wedding night, expecting a romantic and memorable experience in the honeymoon suite. Sadly, the room had several issues that were far from what you'd expect for such a special occasion. I was upset that some of the conditions could be seen in my wedding pictures. After raising our concerns, the manager kindly promised us a complimentary night's stay and a three-course meal for two once renovations were completed in November 2024. We appreciated the gesture and looked forward to returning under better circumstances. However, since November, communication has completely stopped. Despite multiple follow-up emails, I’ve received no response, and I suspect the renovations were never carried out. It’s incredibly disappointing to be ignored after such a meaningful event and after being reassured that the hotel would make things right. I’m sharing this so future guests—especially those booking for special occasions—are aware. A beautiful venue means little without accountability and customer care.
