The restaurant foods are expensive and there is not enough food. It's breakfast and there are also very small options and it is not value money.

The pool, the people, the room with a beautifull bathroom. It all was amazing. It might be a bit far from the city centre, but worth the travel. The staff will help you with arranging a tuktuk and with 10 min you’re in the city centre of tangalle.

A stunning hotel and the best pool we have used in Sri Lanka. Massive, spacious and stylish bedrooms with huge comfortable beds. The meal we had was delicious and freshly prepared. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. The location was unique, exciting and beautiful. The design of the hotel and complex was awesome. Our stay was incredibly good value for such an inspiring place. We would very happily have stayed much longer. The hotel owner and friend were great to chat to and we loved experiencing all the amazing wildlife around us including; monkeys, a monitor lizard, interesting birds and fireflies! I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to experience this amazing place.

A number of things to improve on that could be easily fixed.....No kettle/ tea making facilities in the bedrooms. We Brits need our tea in bed! A limited menu with no choices for small snacks and no shops nearby, so we were forced to either order a large meal or go hungry. Very few drinks in stock. Staff ignored rubbish around the pool. The ( very lovely) gardener spent one whole day cutting the lawn by the pool with a loud petrol strimmer when he could have done this in half an hour with a lawn mower. I felt very sorry for him but nor was the noise pleasant when we had decided to spend the day by the gorgeous pool. No sound proofing between floors and very loud people above us. I feel it's a shame to have to complain about these things as so much about the hotel was really amazing and incredible!

The hotel was wonderful, big room and bathroom, beautiful pool and nice restaurant area. There was also a kitchen area that could have been used for making tea/Coffee privately. Its vicinity to the lake gives the place an additional charm and the grounds are nicely kept by the team and especially a very kind older man. Bless him!

One night there were cockroaches in the bathroom, I managed to kill one but not the second one. That was a little creepy so I kept the bathroom door shut all the time.

The hotel was a dream! Really quiet, the decoration was so elegant, the smell incredible, and we had a really good time to relax.

The whole area is beautiful and clean. The apartments are big and comfortable. The staff is super nice! We felt welcomed since the first second!

We loved staying at OHEI. The hotel is beautiful, very well decorated. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the swimming pool is just stunning ! Contrary to other comments, we loved the location nestled in the mangroves, which makes you feel secluded and protected from intense beach sunshine. The walk to the beach is totally fine and very quick, so not a problem for us. We also had the best massage of our holidays ! Make sure you book one :)

Our experience could have been a 10/10 if the service had been better. We’re generally easygoing, but a few things added to our frustration. First, the staff tends to play extremely loud (and rather mainstream—but that’s personal preference) music using a free streaming account, meaning the ads also blare through the speakers. While we don’t mind background music, we didn’t want to feel like we had landed in an Ibiza beach club. Our room was just 10 meters from the restaurant, and we had to ask multiple times for the volume to be lowered. Secondly, we didn’t have hot water for all three mornings of our stay. We reported it to the staff, and while they sent someone to fix it (which worked for one evening), the problem returned the next day. Other guests also seemed to have the same issue. Lastly, while we truly appreciated the friendliness of the staff, they clearly lacked experience. The young manager speaks little English and tends to say yes to everything without actually managing guest expectations. Food orders were often incorrect, and wait times were excessive—once, we waited 1.5 hours for our meal, despite having ordered early in the afternoon. On top of that, they still got the order wrong. Delays are understandable—we’re on holiday, after all—but clear communication and expectation management would make a huge difference. That being said, these issues didn’t ruin our stay, as the place itself is amazing. With some improvements, OHEI could easily be the best hotel in the region!

A wonderfully quiet and atmospheric small hotel with a great pool. It was a truly rejuvenating and soothing place to stay. We tried a number of other restaurants nearby but the food at the hotel was by far the best. Our room was large with an excellent balcony overlooking the pool and palm trees. The staff was friendly and helpful We stayed four nights and could have stayed longer. Highly recommended.

The walk to the beach was only about 15 minutes but was a bit of a challenge in the midday sun. But the beach was worth the slog. It felt wild and remote.

Beautiful pool and garden. Room and bathroom were large and airy, lots of space. Location is right next to the lagoon at the back of the property and about 10/15 min walk to the beach. Nice and quiet spot. The Sri Lankan manager and his team were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious, loved the fruit platter.
