I felt like we were not allowed to touch anything. Being brought into the room to show us that things were working felt patronising the tv, the kettle). Being told if we wasn’t going to use the throws than fold them and put them on the wardrobe made us feel like we were not supposed to use them or if we did it would create more work for the hosts. We were “scalded” for leaving at 8am which to us is not that unreasonable especially when we were told that they start cooking at 8. We just felt like everything we said was met with a back hand. We just felt like everything we said was met with a back hand. So for example our door didn’t close properly. We didn’t complain we just said oh just to let you know your door is faulty on x room. And we were met with “we had those doors put in last year…” ok that’s all well and good but it doesn’t change the fact we struggled to secure our room… The place was clean. I appreciate the owners want to give a 5 star performance but honestly we were on edge the whole time and for that reason we would not want to stay again

The hotel was spotlessly clean. It is in a quiet location, tram stop nearby to get you into the town. Breakfast was lovely and cooked fresh, the host was very friendly and attentive to your needs. Towels and toiletries nicely laid out in the room, along with tea/coffee making facilities. Would definitely return and recommend.

Room was spotless, a good size for myself and grandchildren.

Friendliness of host and family was great nothing was too much trouble breakfast was perfect and plentiful room was large and spacious bed was comfortable

The breakfast each day was well prepared and filling and set me up for the day. The service was quick and efficient each day and the dining room was in a good location.

First off, it's cheap. It's walkable from the centre - just over a mile - and the shower was hot, so that's good. After that I'm struggling. The bed was comfy enough, with provisos.

OK, from the top then... - and this is based on a stay in Room 2. This isn't a four star hotel, despite what it says on booking.com. Two star absolute tops but really more like a bog standard B&B. The sign outside says enjoyEngland.com, which now diverts to https://www.visitengland.com/ - who? The bathroom is tiny, and with the door open you cannot get to the shower. In the bathroom there's a heated mirror but it's connected to mains via scotchblocks and not switched, which doesn't feel safe to me. There's a hole in the panelling too. The curtains stop people looking in but don't obscure light. The furniture is mix and match, like it's all been found piecemeal and chucked into the rooms. Even the spoons were of different types... The bed was OK but came with a protector undersheet that crinkled as plastic undersheets shall, which was a bit icky. On the upside, if there was anything infesting it - and I'm not saying there was - I was protected. The bedding was stained - someone's else's bloodstain specifically. (See photos for all of this btw.) The electrics were properly suspect throughout - lots of homemade extensions trunked up the walls from the original plugs, with varying lacks of professionalism. The bathroom door wasn't even painted, left in its undercoat! And whoever fitted it didn't even know to drill space for the button closure on the door. What was painted was done badly and no-one thought to mask off the adjacent surface to keep it tidy. Similarly, when the room *was* repainted - in flat white over anaglypta - they didn't do the inside of the wardrobe. There was a hole in the coving above the bed that I plugged with a piece of toilet paper. Very suspicious. There's a safe in the wardrobe! It doesn't *work* but... The hairdryer as provided would benefit from a clean. The fire alarm is as old as the hills judging by the discolouration.
