Cambridge Belfry Hotel & Spa

Nice hotel and we'll use it again.

Breakfast was a bit of a fiasco, ran out of food and crockery and had to queue to get seated. They cater too much for conventions rather than guests.

In a party and we were asked to pre-order food when we got to the restuarant on the first evening we were told that one of the starters ordered was not avialable because they had RUN OUT shouldn't they have allowed for that. Food at breakfast, the "Full English" consisted of rubbery fried eggs, almost cold cardboard bacon and overcooked tomatoes because they probably been batched cooked and left under a heat lamp for too long.

Staffing was terrible - most of the staff (with a few notable exceptions) gave the impression that this was their first day working in a hotel. Tables not cleared or cleaned - orders forgotten- pre orders ignored - long queues at reception & no one answers a phone

The rooms were nice and spacious. The outdoor seating area was nice and the restaurant and bar was nice

We had a long wait to check in as no one was manning the reception desk. However we did get two complimentary drinks to say sorry. The outside seating area by the bar was a bit messy.

Clean spacious hotel, tastefully decorated , helpful and friendly staff, Wide choice of food for breakfast and dinner.

I would have liked a choice of butter or margarine to add to toast/ bread at breakfast. There was only margarine on offer which I don't eat so I had to have toast with just marmalade.
