Sumba Beach House

Great location right on the beach and it’s a plus if you surf. Shore break made it not the best swimming beach. Bathroom was big and nice except it joins with other bathrooms on either side and is not fully closed at the ceiling so little privacy. Grounds and landscaping tropical beautiful. Laid back beach restaurant and bar.

Lack of privacy in bathroom. See above. Water in bathroom was salty! Bed room is uncomfortably tiny. Door to my room was only a few steps from the bar/restaurant. No privacy at all. Overpriced for what you get. Food average. Drivers very unreliable and you are isolated so you need to have a good driver booked ahead of time.

Rooms were very small, weird lights hung over the bed so close that when you sit up, your head knocks into them. The “ocean view room” was actually bar view room with ocean view through bar, no hot water kettle, even coffee and tea is extra charge to room, no breakfast included. Food prices really added up! Pool was very small and not very clean. We were assured there would not be construction but there was construction just next door. Would have been nice to know ahead of time.

Sumba beach house is just gorgeous. Location epic, staff super helpful and polite, rooms comfy. They can also organzie an airport pick up, horse back riding etc. Beautiful.

Liked it all but small things grated a bit. Charging room guests for tea seems very mean when room isn’t cheap. Most hotels etc supply tea and coffee, or have facilities in room to make it. The boat to go surfing is too small and small motor, very uncomfortable and small range, and probably pretty dangerous too. But this trip just surfed out front so didn’t really matter too much.

The Sumba Beach House is a perfect beach getaway! The views are amazing, the beach is clean and walkable, the area is not crowded, the ocean is swimmable and you can surf too. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. There are lots of activities nearby that the staff can help you arrange if you need. The food was wonderful and fresh. The room is simple yet very comfortable and the bathroom is beautiful. Thanks to Melky, Jeni, and the entire staff!
