The room was unfortunately made up as a double, but it was quickly changed to a twin for us. The furnishings and decor of the hotel were comfortable and stylish.

Staff were slow to respond at breakfast. A proper urn to make tea with is required. Pumping hot water from a jug is not acceptable.

It had an excellent location, close to the Boat of Garten station of the Strathspey Railway. We were in a garden room, with beautiful views towards the Cairngorms

On the second night of our stay, we had an extremely average meal, for which we were charged what we both thought were quite high prices. We had booked bed and breakfast, but didn’t have the cooked breakfast, but had granola, fruit and yoghurt, whilst I had porridge, which was fine. Our room was a good size, but the carpet looked as though it had not been hoovered for some time, whilst the shower was a rather feeble trickle of water, which took a long time to heat up. The bathroom was also overheated, as the heater was impossible to turn down, so the hotel was spending a lot of money on heating that was not needed.

Traditional hotel, comfortable, nicely decorated room and decent food. Helpful staff took our suitcase up to our room which was much appreciated. Well located and helpful information provided about walks and what to see in the local area.

Not the best view over the kitchen and bins from our room (!) but only a 2 night stop so didn’t matter. No lift could be an issue for anyone with mobility problems.

Called in for Sunday Lunch. The food and service was OK up to the point I noticed the gravy on my food was missing. When the waiter came round asking if everything was OK I asked for some gravy. He went in the back and when he came back without the gravy, he said it would be at an extra charge. When it came to paying, cash payment was refused. And so was the added service charge!

Food was good

Room allocated to us for four nights was dark, small and faced the rubbish bins and the noisy fan system from the bio digester / kitchens. After a lot of pressure, we were moved but the room (in the rafters) was so hot we had to open the window. First night drunken partying opposite until 1am; last night car alarm going off outside from 4.15am. If you like a peaceful night's sleep, this hotel may not be for you....
