Four Monkeys Eco Lodge - Jungle & Beach

Really liked the location and the fact that the wildlife comes to you. The owner was really helpful and helped us arrange a few trips and taxi to Bahia Drake.

The new kitchen area was great but could do with a fan as was very hot cooking with heat of weather on top of the gas burners. Maybe something can be done with shower as well as was a dribble, expect it to be cool but needed a bit of pressure.

The place was amazing. Only 6 rooms so quiet, nice remote feeling. Brand new, amazing half outdoor kitchen with all the stuff you need. Rooms were spacious and comfy, beach right in front with pretty much no one else around. Staff super friendly and helpful as well.

It's hot all day and all night, but if that bothers you you probably shouldn't visit the corcovado area!

Silvina is an excellent host, very helpful and responsive. We had a marvellous time and saw so much wildlife during our stay! The off-grid experience was far more immersive than a hotel, and we slept very well in the comfortable beds, with the sounds of waves to lull us to sleep, and monkeys to wake us up!

Realize that you are staying in the jungle, so there may be ants, mosquitos, etc. to contend with. It was not a negative part of the experience, but something to be realistic about.

Four Monkeys is located between Puerto Jimenez and Cabo Matapalo on the Osa Peninsula, the most biologically diverse place on earth. You will see TONS of wildlife on and around the property, and the "glamping" is absolutely superb. The bungalows could not have been nicer -- we loved the open-air bathrooms/showers, and the new kitchen was terrific. The staff were delightful and helpful. Four Monkeys has our highest recommendation.

We loved all of it -- our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

It was a great property in nature! Monkeys and macaws were very special . The beds were high quality memory foam. I wasn’t aware that the beach bungalow was a tent but it had double screen and a fan and was very comfortable!! The staff was great! They hooked us up with selva connections and we had a great experience with the wildlife tour and Andy

Our stay at Four Monkeys was a beautiful experience. With Golfo Dulce as its playground, this place offers a stunning natural setting with a peaceful beach, perfect for swimming and relaxing. From the very first moment, I felt a deep sense of calm throughout the entire property. For me, silence is a luxury, and here I experienced several moments of pure joy, surrounded only by the sounds of the forest, animals, and waves. I also appreciated their deep connection with nature and respect for local wildlife, which is evident in how seamlessly the space blends with its surroundings. The bungalows are another highlight. You can choose to leave the curtains open and enjoy almost a 180-degree view of the beach and the surrounding forest. This was one of my favorite aspects, as it allows you to feel even more connected to nature, waking up to the sunrise and falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean and wildlife. The hosts are incredibly kind. Every detail is carefully thought out, from the organization of the spaces to the beautiful open kitchen, which is not only functional but also a visual delight. Highly recommended for anyone looking to disconnect for a while!

Four Monkeys is a unique place to stay: as soon as you walk in there is a real sense of being within the jungle and a part of what makes the Osa peninsula so special. It's also situated by a beautiful wild beach with lots of birdlife to watch. Although a car makes life easy (20-30 mins drive south of Puerto Jimenez), once you're there you can just chill out and enjoy the immediate surroundings. Bring a few food supplies and live simply for little while. A new communal kitchen/ relaxation area and a yoga shala were in the final stages of completion when we were there. In the meantime you can use the host's kitchen to prepare meals and chat to fellow guests. It's relaxed. Our (really comfortable) bungalow was at the front and we woke up to sunrise and the sounds of animals and birds starting their day. The hosts were friendly and very helpful - and this became crucial as we had a medical emergency. Silvina was able to arrange an appointment with the local GP at short notice - for which we are so grateful. We had to curtail our stay and return to San José - but have resolved to return just as soon as we can.

This is a stunning place that exceeded all our expectations. The cabin where we lived was very clean and comfortable. Moreover, it is not hot, but protects you against possible uninvited guests. The territory of the lodge comes directly to the beach, which is very convenient. Everywhere is beautiful and clean, and there are real feelings of jungle around. For four days, four types of different monkeys came to us: spider monkeys, white faced capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys and loud howler monkeys (I got now why the lodge is named "Four monkeys" 😉). We also saw a lot of birds: pelicans hunt near the shore, loud green parrots, beautiful macaws, amazing toucans, and many more that we did not know, flu to the lodge. I also want to mention the beautiful sunrises, for which we woke up at 5:50 a.m. and watched right from the beach. Everything was unforgettable, it is a really paradise place! Finally, We would like to say great thanks to Selvina, her husband Dario, the lodge hosts, and their niece Eliya for creating truly Pura Vida vibes and whose hospitality and assistance are simply invaluable!

Who am I to criticize paradise? 🙂 The only thing to get to this place it is better to have an 4-wheel drive car.
