Butt Lodge

Fantastic location. Wonderful spacious room with picture windows on to open space with red deer, sheep and oyster catchers. Friendliest of hosts. And chef very committed to fine food.

We were 1st time visitors to Butt Lodge but plan to come back very soon. Cath & Matt were exceptional hosts & the lodge itself was just stunning. Exceptionally clean, lovely white towels in bathroom as well as an array of toiletries just everything you'd want for a beak away. Oh & the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. We couldn't fault Butt Lodge at all & can't wait to come back!

Location was excellent, hosts were superb, room was in the corner of the building and suitable for watching the sunset, it backed on to a pitch and putt 18 hole golf course. The golf course was frequently visited by a glorious Stag and it's females, was fantastic to see these creatures in there natural habitat. The meal were not fully to our liking and were a set menu, however requested to adjust these were accepted, the food quality was first class as every meal was delicious

Only one small criticism of the room there is no table in the room and when you are sitting at the settee watching TV you don't have anywhere to put your mug or glass, you have to hold these or put them on the floor, a small table capable of taking a couple of cups would have been ideal - The road into the property is a single track dirt road, very uneven and very tight to drive along, there is only 1 passing place on this road. The road appears to be part of access to a farm as we encountered a flock of sheep when using the road and had to reverse back a long the winding road until we were able to pull into the passing place, the sheep were brushing up against the car the whole time and thankfully no damage to my vehicle. It may be possible for the owners and others to see if they can put a road at the top end of the golf course (at the rear of their properties) and this could be used solely for residents and there guests, this would make it much easier to access in and out of the property.
