Silver Hill Ecovillage

We stayed in one of the new eco-friendly bungalows and it was amazing. The view from the window and the verandah was just stunning — you wake up to greenery and birds, and it’s so peaceful. All the bungalows are separate too, so you get your own space and privacy, which we really appreciated. This was honestly the most relaxing and friendly place we found in our entire 3-week holiday in Sri Lanka. The whole place has such a calm, welcoming vibe, and you can tell a lot of love has gone into it. It just feels good to be there. You really need at least 3 days to fully enjoy everything, slow down, and soak up the atmosphere — so don’t hesitate to spend 3 or more days if you can. We left feeling totally refreshed and already want to come back!

Silver Hill Ecovillage is honestly one of the most peaceful, inspiring places I’ve ever been. It’s tucked away in nature, full of greenery, birdsong, and good vibes. You instantly feel like you’ve stepped into a slower, more grounded way of living. The people here are super welcoming and down-to-earth. There’s a real sense of community, and it’s easy to feel at home—even if you’ve just arrived. Whether you're helping out on the farm, walking through the forest paths, or chilling by the freshwater pool, it just feels right. One useful tip: get a driver recommended by Silver Hill or organised by them. Our driver didn’t use Google Maps and had a hard time finding the place—even though it’s super easy to locate with Google Maps. A lot of Sri Lankan drivers just don’t use navigation apps, so it’s best to go with someone familiar. Also, don’t be put off by any complaints from the driver about the road. It’s their job to get you there! Our driver moaned the whole way but had zero issues getting right up to the ecolodge. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay longer, breathe deeper, and maybe even rethink how you live. Can’t recommend it enough if you need a break from the noise or just want to be around good people in a beautiful setting.

This was our best accommodation in Sri Lanka. Getting there wasn't easy, but we and our tuktuk made it. The view from the terrace over the jungle is simply magnificent. The infinity pool provides a nice way to cool off. Breakfast and dinner were very good. Some of the ingredients come from the resort's own garden. We would come back anytime.

Great pool and wonderful view

From the very first moment, we felt genuinely welcome at this beautiful estate, nestled in lush greenery and surrounded by spice, fruit, and vegetable plants. The owner and his team are lovely and try to accommodate you as well as possible. What makes this place even more special is its support for the local village community. You can enjoy delicious, authentic Sri Lankan meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A range of activities is offered, including village tours and scenic hikes through the beautiful surrounding nature. I’ve rarely felt so relaxed, completely immersed in the peaceful natural setting. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though understandably quite basic due to the remote location. We will definitely be back!

The manager told us a lot of interesting things about the surrounding farm. We also did a hike to the viewpoint with a guide from the village which was really nice. Accomodation was very nice with good views. Last but not least, we had dinner at the location and it was the best one we had during our entire Sri Lanka trip.

I cycled up to the Silver Hill Ecovillage and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Prosanna is a hospitable and engaging host. He kindly lent me his binoculars for some amazing birdwatching. The immediate views from the rooms and terrace are spectacular. His staff are very kindly attentive and prepared some wonderfully healthy home cooked food using locally grown produce. I was impressed with the outstanding scenery and unique location of the Silver Hill Ecovillage. I am so pleased and privileged to have had the chance to stay at this tranquil and mellow

Amazing place! Definitely worth the trip off the beaten track. Local villagers so friendly and this ecovillage grows everything themselves. The food is amazing! We wish we had time for the cooking class. Very well designed with many common areas that you always feel you have private space with amazing views.
