Udawatta Kele (UK) Forest Lodge

We loved the hosts, the food and the view. The place is super safe, clean and the rooms are very spacious and the a/c was great! The hosts were very kind enough to reserve great seats for the Kandy cultural show. They were also quite informative and lovely to chat to. Thomson the kitten made the experience a whole lot better.

Can’t complain about anything- the little hike to the place was quite okay.

Right by Udawatta Kele and Kandy lake, this little home tucked away from the bustle of the city is ideal for someone who likes quiet. Some inquisitive monkeys might visit in the morning and they have lots of friendly kittens to play with. I was sick when staying there, Dinesh and his mom took really good care of me! I felt like family. Highly recommend.

These are the friendliest people. Now you read that a lot about homestays, but this is on another level. She is not just friendly to you (the tourist with money) but shows true kindness to all living beings. We watched monkeys destroy her roof, and less than half an hour later she fed them ‘leftovers’ (that really looked like good food). They explained, “we moved into the hillside, which is their natural habitat, so we must find a way to coexist”. Truly, amazing people. We were lucky enough to be there with Singalese New Year and they shared the evening and all their traditions with us. It was very special and we feel really blessed. It is up the hill (the ‘up’ part is mostly by stairs) from the Temple of the tooth, an amazing location. Very close to the centre (5min on foot, downhill) and still quiet and ‘secluded’. Pick this place and you won’t be disappointed.

Honestly, we were beyond satisfied in every aspect.

We received the booking confirmation and contact details of the person. However they had cancelled the booking and did not inform us. Google map took us on very dangerous route and we were lucky to survive a deadly accident. Very disapointed !!!.

Host is really friendly and kind. Location is walkable distance from tooth relic temple which is a must visit in Kandy. For this cheap price, place is really good

The hotel don't seem ready to host guest, it looks like nobody has been there for a long time, paper on the Windows, no fan no a/c working, dirty on the floor etc... in the pictures it looks like a very nice place, and it probably was. We left before even spending the first night

We had an amazing experience staying here! The location is excellent, just a 10-minute walk to the city center. And It was fascinating to see so many monkeys from the secure courtyard. Moreover, the host is absolutely wonderful. He treated us to delightful Sri Lankan tea and engaged us in very interesting conversations. But the highlight for us was definitely the breakfast. The hearty, delicious Sri Lankan-style breakfasts were an incredibly enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this place.
