Andean Wings Sotupa Eco Lodge

Lovely accommodation and very attentive staff including the guide that accompanied us on the organised activities (caiman and capybara spotting, parrokeet clay lick, kayacking, day and night walks). Good range of chargeable extra activities such as the ATV quad biking through the jungle which we definitely recommend!

There could have been more excursions/activities included as part of the overall package - unless you like to chill out in the hammocks (which was also nice) then you need to add extra activities to consume the day and this can start to add up depending on how long you are staying in the area.

It was so far a nice place with spacious rooms. The bed was very comfortable. Nice ambiance. Staff were kind and attentive.

There is no noise protection at all. You can hear everything including neighbors breathing. The road construction close to the hotel at the moment makes a lot of noise and it smells badly, especially in the morning at 6:00 am when they start their works and the air was just recovered over the night ( too close to the airport, your could hear some flights starting especially in the morning. Meals were home cooking like but very average. Not much to do even they offer some walks and boat ridings or kayaking. Transfers from/to the airport are too expensive.

room size

The service is terrible, almost non-existent. The room is noisy, you can hear the construction site and smell gasoline. The hotel has few free activities and they are terrible. The guide is irresponsible and unprofessional (the guide told us to meet at 6am, and then he was 40 minutes late, without any apology, and lacked professional knowledge and little knowledge of the rainforest). The paid activities are expensive, more than $100 per person, the paid activities are lackluster, the guide is not professional, and all you get is disappointment,

The size of the room is great and the view magnificent. We loved that there is netting everywhere so the veranda can be enjoyed without fear of being bitten and doors left open all night with the cooling breeze without having to put the fan on. The guided tours they put on was fun too, and one could feasibly enjoy the area and take excursions from here without having to go on other organised overnight tours with much more basic accommodation.

The roads are rough and rugged leading to the property but not the fault of the lodge and is currently being surfaced. The all-inclusive food was good, but maybe could’ve been more authentic as some dishes tasted as if they are moderated to the tourist’s palate? Not a complaint at all though.

Excellent location right on the Rio Tambopata. All meals and numerous activities included. Located right next to the Amazon Shelter for Animal and Environmental Protection, which you can visit for a small donation and receive a guided tour. Very friendly and family-like atmosphere.
