"Disappointing"

5.0

The guide was very nice and passionate about what he does. The room has amazing views.

Overall our stay in Sotupa Eco Lodge was disappointing. We were unlucky with the weather, so for most of the time we were freezing and bored. The hotel doesn't have much activities in my opinion, especially when the weather is not the best. The food was good, but a bit too simple for this cost. During one dinner they served juice and during the second dinner they charged us for water. I think for this kind of money, they could have made more effort.

"Could have been better"

Good location

Meals were poor serving the same cold meal both days. Manager was very aloof and didn’t like feedback

"Lovely, peaceful, wonderful guests and staff, all around a perfect end to a 2 week Peru adventure."

10.0

We stayed for four days at the end of a 16 day trip and it was a perfect way to rest and relax. Very low key and what was needed for some R and R. Food was lovely, happy hour was perfect, staff was friendly and included trips were appropriate.

It was as was expected.

"Absolute paradise."

8.0

Absolutely wonderful setting, right in the middle of the jungle by the river bursting with wildlife and monkeys and parrots!! Beautiful place, suitably relaxing and charming with a great Amazon feel.

Meal times could be more flexible; dinner a little earlier; more fruit available during the day and at breakfast.

"Paradise!"

10.0

The staff were fantastic, especially our guide Ciro who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The location and views are amazing! The food was excellent, the property has a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

The wifi didn’t reach the rooms however it was also quite pleasant to really be switched off from the world.

"It’s extremely overpriced for the price you pay."

6.0

The location is amazing, overlooking the Tambopata River. The guide Evan was good, though the tours could have been better, to not fault of his.

The rooms and bathroom are a bit muggy for the price you pay. There’s lots of cobwebs everywhere. The sheets smelled of moisture. Also the photos of the room I booked were different than the room I was given. Staff had their own parties in the common area after 10pm with loud music, they did turn it down when I requested though. Food was okay, I expected more for the price you pay.

"Truly stunning experience"

10.0

We spent three nights at this wonderful lodge and had the most amazing time. We had a fabulous room with a large veranda overlooking the river. The room was very large and airy with a very big comfy bed. Beautifully furnished in a traditional style. We were full board so had breakfast ( buffet style)with lunch snd dinner. These meals were incredible. Wonderful locally sourced ingredients catering for vegetarians and GF. Meals were always three courses and after a full day’s sightseeing, much appreciated. The staff were caring, accommodating and very proud of their business ( as they should be). It was great to chill at the bar with a Pisco sour or a cold beer chatting with fellow guests. A big shout out to our wonderful guide Ivan who took us on all the inclusive trips . Can I suggest a visit to the local animal sanctuary where the staff work tirelessly taking care of injured animals etc. We felt very humbled after visiting . This experience was truly amazing, great value and we made some great friends along the way . Do not hesitate to book.

Nothing at all.

"Not as expected, too expensive for what you get"

4.0

Staff was friendly, including manager, chef and guide. We were allowed to stay in our room beyond check out time. The meals were good in taste.

Rooms were regarding being in midst of the jungle okay, though there was absolutely no kind of soundproof, no WiFi connection in the room, very bad also in the community areas. No isolation during the colder days. Separate rooms are not lockable from outside. Breakfast was more on the lower edge, very basic and too small amounts. They tried to take account on special needs, food allergies or other inconveniences. Meals were served on a fixed schedule (7:30 a.m/ 1:30 p.m./ 7:30 p.m.), no snacks were allowed in between because of wildlife attraction. They served juice to every meal, no other options e.g. softdrinks were offered. We booked this specific lodge because of the included tours and were really disappointed in those (around 1-1,5 h each). Basically you’ve been on the sole area of the lodge, though there is an animal shelter nearby and we heard it was very worth a visit, but you have to pay extra (cash only). Also the tour to Lake Sandoval is also not included and absolutely not worth the money (90 USD per person). All in all, being in the Amazon is more a romantic idea than a very expensive experience and for us it was not worth the money. One night or two nights tops would do it. We acknowledge that being in the jungle you can’t compare it to the standards of a regular hotel in the city but regarding the very positive reviews we had bigger expectations.
