Andean Wings Sotupa Eco Lodge

We're just back from a wonderful stay at Sotupa Eco Lodge. From the moment of booking we found the communication to be excellent, and we were able to pre-arrange meals to fit our vegan diet for our entire stay, as well as arrange transfers to and from the airport. Upon arrival we were given a warm welcome, and we were taken back by the beautiful location of the lodge. The surroundings are breath-taking and you feel immersed into the nature of the rainforest from the moment you arrive. The room was clean and spacious with a large comfortable bed. It looked out onto the garden and the majestic Tambopata River. The cost of the booking included 3 meals per day, and every meal we had was made with deliciously fresh ingredients and a fine example of Peruvian and Amazonian cuisine. The various activities were run by knowledgeable and friendly staff, all of whom are a credit to Sotupa, and helped make our stay extra special. I would highly recommend staying here!

Amazing food, clean, very comfortable beds, perfect location near city but feels remote

The location is very good, with a gorgeous view of the river. Feels very tranquil. Only 30 min drive from the airport. Easy to get there, but also right in the forest by the river. There is three meals a day included. A breakfast buffet, and three courses for lunch and dinner. You can choose your starter and main from a few options every day. Water is provided, and breakfast comes with juice. Other drinks have to be bought. There is a little pool with water that is changed every 2-3 days. And hammocks throughout the property. Staff are super nice. Very friendly and helpful!

The tours that are included are pretty basic. The clay lick and night boat tour to look for caimans are nice. But to get the best experiences in the area (like Sandoval lake or piranha fishing) you have to organise them separate. And they cost quite a bit, so that will significantly add to your stay in the Amazon. There is a lot of bugs and spiders in the Amazon, and the rooms are not completely sealed. There are cracks and openings for them to get in through. It was never many in our room, but we did keep finding a few every day. I would think this would be the same in most of the eco lodge stays in the forest, so this is not the kind of stay for you if you are very scared of bugs and spiders.

Super friendly staff, they handled everything with a smile and were very accommodating. It's really great that all food and activities are included - every day there was something happening, from kayaking to a jungle night walk. The property is beautiful and you feel like you're in the middle of the jungle. It's a fantastic place to unwind.

The food could be improved. Also, there could be some snacks for purchase for in-between meals.

Such a beautiful property - really close to the town but far enough out that you really feel like you’re in the jungle. The staff were so kind and friendly and the included activities were awesome! I loved everything about it, even my little frog friend who joined me in the shower.

I would have liked to have a couple different options for dinner. The food was good but I would have liked to have been able to choose between a couple different things.

Good location about 20 minutes from the airport but on the river. There’s a clay lick where macaws and parakeets gather in the early morning.

It’s not in the pristine primary growth forest like the Tambopata Research Center, but on the other hand it’s not as expensive and remote.

The room was spacious and comfortable with an amazing view. We thought the lack of air-conditioning might make it difficult to sleep but we found the design of the room and the peace of the place meant we had great sleep with just a fan. All the staff were wonderful, the location is amazing, the included activities are varied and interesting and the food was delicious. There really wasn't anything we would change.

Staff were super lovely and helpful. The food was AMAZING we loved all the meals. It was a perfect balance of relaxation, exploring the rainforest with the tours and enjoying the natural surroundings.

Some language barrier with our organised pick up, we ended up getting a taxi. The heavy rain caused our roof to leak significantly as it is not sealed properly - the staff resolved this by moving us to another room quickly. The wifi was quite weak even in the reception area does not reach the rooms.

Food was gourmet. Lovely staff. Guide was great
