Casa Maya

The building was really new and cute. There were Moskito nets at the beds. There were some hammocks and chairs. (But not directly next/above the water)

The walls are not until the roof, so you could hear everything from the room next to you. The prices for the boat are more expensive, so just book it somewhere else… The location is okay, but the speed boats passes by.

The family is super friendly and warm-hearted :) Nice famili owned hostal within an amazing landscape

Beautiful property, peaceful, kayaks to rent, helpful owners, a darling child to play with if you want to, very few mosquitoes and no bugs, a restaurant with decent food. Staying on the river instead of in the chaotic town of Livingston felt like a better experience.

Cash only, but the kind owners did everything they could to help out when I inadvertently arrived without enough. The father, who likely didn’t intend to be rude, asked me if I reimbursed them for 50Q he lent me to go by boat that day to the ATM. When I said yes, he then shouted into the kitchen to verify with his wife. My advice is to always ask your wife directly (and discretely) and not ask your guests. It was an astonishing moment.

Casa Maya is exactly what I was looking for in a quiet place to stay along the Rio Dulce. The family-run business is a great spot of peace and tranquility, nestled within the rainforest. Large comfortable rooms and beds, great food provided in the dining area, and strong wifi. I loved the feel of the place, being hand-made with care. LOVED The seashell taps in the shared bathroom area! So cool!

Nothing that I would consider deal-breaking at all.

The houses don’t really close so there is a lot of bugs, spiders, got bitten a lot.

Such a wonderful experience, it is family owned and they are so kind and helpful! My friend and I stayed for 2 nights, our room was at the very back in a big sized building with 4 or 5 seperate rooms. It was so nice to wake up and go to sleep listening to the sounds of the jungle. You arrive by boat so keep in mind you are not close to town but, there is a restaurant at Casa Maya and the food is amazing, well priced and good portions! You can rent kayaks there for a really great price and the reason we choose to stay here is there are so many things to see and explore in the area. You have to kayak or boat but its such a convenient spot to see all there is to see and if you tell the owner what you are planning they will set it up for you/ get proper tour guide/ tell you how to get there and how far things are. The lancha to and from Maya Casa is a bit pricey but that's just how it is, its the only means of transportation to and from Rio Dulce - Livingston and your gonna pay that anywhere you decide to stay in between those two places. It is worth paying especially if you are staying for 2 or more nights, just buy all you need before you leave town. There is a small convenience store 5 min kayak from Maya Casa and other restaurants too. I was more than happy to stay here and support a family business :) very reasonably priced too!

Casa Maya is wonderful. the family are very kind and hospitable. rooms were comfortable and clean, meals were delicious, and it was nice to enjoy dinner and breakfast with the other guests. Highly recommend! Muchas gracias Martha y tu familia!

Lovely place run by a lovely family. Great spot to get out and kayak down the river.
