The staff was super friendly, perfect value for money and it could not have been a better stay despite a lot of rain! Would highly recommend Casa Maya!

Let me start by saying that this place was not worth the $18USD/night that I paid in late November 2024. The two-bed room that they put me in was far away from the river and in a swamp-like area. No views of the river from my room—only the surrounding jungle and some other the other cabanas. The restaurant is near the river and the wifi is ONLY at the restaurant; no WiFi in the dorm rooms or cabanas. The drainage from the toilets, sinks, and showers empties out onto the ground directly beneath the building, so there is a persistent bad smell coming from the water beneath the rooms. The sinks at the bathroom used seashells instead of conventional faucets. This is very unsanitary and likely unsafe. The walls in the room do not go all the way up/connect to the ceiling, so there are big gaps around the room in which animals can easily enter as they please. The food at the restaurant was okay; not great—not bad. Transportation to and from the hotel is expensive at 125GTQ one-way per person. They advertise having dinner every night with their family, but when it was dinner time, there was no invitation for me to dine with them. The husband and wife were not unfriendly, but the infrastructure of their hotel needs to be much improved—especially if they want to continue charging $18USD/night.

Really beautiful environment and lovely family, very helpful (breakfast at 6am + transport) , feels like home. Very spacious and clean room.with balcony. Easy access to Livingston and Rio Dulce.

Beautiful area. Surrounded by the jungle. Very friendly people. Good food with big portions. Room was very clean. Great place to just relax and read some books.

Martha was an exceptional host. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa Maya, it was a perfect location for my boys (8 & 10) to become fully immersed in experiencing what Rio Dulce had to offer - they enjoyed kayaking, fishing, swimming and relaxing on the hammocks.

The family is very nice and helpful. The food is very fresh. The property is very calm and natural.

Martha & her family did everything to make our 3 nights stay as good as possible. The bungalow was spacious, had nice hammocks on its balcony and clean bathroom. The location was ideal: close to nice highlights in Rio Dulce with kayak, while you could fully relax at Casa Maya.
