Milford Sound Lodge

We stayed in the Superior Chalet. It was simply stunning. Interior decor, features and lighting were amazing. But these were outdone by the location and views (which of course can be seen from the bed). Situated by the side of the river and watching and listening to the river run by was epic, but not as epic as the additional Mountain Views and the waterfalls. And what better way to view this but from the outdoor bath. An added bonus was breakfast in bed, delivered to your chalet so you can continue to be amazed by the views. Check in was great with Laura. We also dined in the onsite restaurant Pio Pio and the food was amazing so highly recommend doing that too.

Such a stunning lodge in a stunning area. Magical views, comfortable beds, all needs catered for. Do yourself a favour and stay.

Property has a perfect location in Milford Sound, amazing surroundings, very nice and friendly staff. Restaurant is very good with fresh products. Highly recommended.

We were a bit disappointed as our 2-bedrooms lodge did not have a direct Mountain View.

Best of the Best

We had an excellent experience at Milford Sound Lodge. While a little pricey, at least compared to our normal lodging, we felt it was well worth it. First, the location is great and we enjoyed a few days in the area without a commute or tour company. Second, our chalet felt pretty remote, though it's really not (they're attached to one other chalet and all in a row). The views from our room, especially on a rainy day, were great. The room itself was spacious. It had just what we needed and nothing more. The bed was comfortable and wifi surprisingly solid given the location. Staff were great, too. From pre trip communication to questions and requests during, they were all helpful and seemed to actually like working there (not always the case at many accomodations). We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if we visited in the future. One warning, for the area in general, is that the sand flies were quite bad (we had read warnings on other websites before arriving). They had a lotion/repellent in the lobby that was free to use that seemed to work well. Definitely recommend using it.

Beautiful property facing the mountain, very nice sized room with all the amenities for a great stay. The staff was just very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was brought to our room and was big enough to keep us going for a few hours The restaurant was also very good.

The mosquito screen didn't have a perfect fit so if you wanted to give some fresh air to your room you needed to open the sliding door which would allow the mosquitos in.

Stopped here after rainy day trip. Road sign says ‘Cafe Open’. However, driving down into park there is no further signage. My friend kept refusing to stop in front of the lodge as there was no sign saying ‘cafe’! Ordered Flat White & Hot Chocolate…..neither were hot. Altho not busy it took white awhile to arrive. Lodge is gorgeous. Told it was updated about 2 years ago. Parking limited & sand flies swarmed us as we got in car!
