Milford Sound Lodge

We spent two nights in a suite and were very comfortable. Our accommodation was spacious with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The location, of course, was superb. All our interactions with staff were professional and not once was did we feel we were anything else than very welcome. We ate at Pio Pio restaurant on both nights and the food was mainly very good and exceptionally well presented. One of our mains, lamb, was very fatty but all other courses were good. These were prepaid 3 course meals. Breakfast was provided to the room each day and was adequate but considering the price we paid for the package I expected some more choices, that said it provided a reasonable start to the day. As stated it was an expensive stay but we were happy to spend that money to be able to stay close to our activities, cruise and helicopter flight and avoid a long drive in and out. I would recommend this as a place to stay.

The view of the snow capped mountain, the waterfalls and the running stream from the room was spectacular. You can take some great astro photography shots from the back of the cabin.

The pricing of the room with breakfast, I would have expected a buffet breakfast.

Milford Sound whats not to love!!! It’s expensive but an amazing treat if you can afford it.

We thought our room would be on the water not behind other buildings. If not river front as expected the price should be lower then the ones at the front. The naked bather that we could see opposite our room was not the entertainment we expected!! Maybe provide more privacy for the spa bath users.
