A fantastic guesthouse with a beautiful overview of the mountains around Ella. You can also see the train passing by in the valley. The host Maduranga will assist you in every way and can arrange a TukTuk for you whenever necessary. The location is super clean, the breakfast is splendid, the beds are comfy!

If you want to be close to the busy center, you should look for another place. If you like a beautiful remote place around Ella, this is what you are looking for.

The hosts were very friendly, welcoming and helpful: it was a pleasure meeting Maduranga and his wife! The food (breakfast and diner) was incredible: one of the best food we had so far…!

What a scenic sweet spot for a break through tea country. We stayed very comfortably for a week to explore the region and were well taken care of by the charming host family. Comfy bed, hot water, lovely porch for sipping coffee, tea or happy hour beverages. Excellent breakfast and delicious dinners to boot. Easy to walk to town on tracks, or host has a Tuk Tuk friend with super reasonable rates. Totally recommend this place.

Thought it was far out from town but lovely 20 minute walk and owner arranged tuk tuk at good price. Loved that it seemed remote but wasn’t and good for walk up Ella Rock!!

This was my favorite stay in Sri Lanka during my nearly two-month journey across the country. From the warmth of the hosts, Maduranga and his wife, to the tranquil and beautiful cottage, and the incredibly generous and delicious breakfast, Astral Zone is a must-book for your stay in Ella. Situated just 10 minutes away from Ella city, it offers a peaceful retreat in a quiet village. Key landmarks such as Ella's Rock and waterfalls are within walking distance. We even embarked on a sunrise hike to Ella Rock with Maduranga's guide friend, Shashi, who was excellent. It's advisable to coordinate tuk-tuk pickups and drop-offs with Maduranga for fair prices. Additionally, don't miss the cooking classes led by his wife; we had a fantastic time learning to make authentic Sri Lankan food in their kitchen. Overall, the hospitality of Maduranga and his family is what sets this spot apart. I can't wait to return here again.

Astral Zone Cottage Ella was absolutely fantastic. We felt so welcomed from the moment we arrived. The cottage is amongst lots of bright colourful flowers and trees. The owners were such kind people. The booklet made by the owner was really special. It had lots of useful information and history of the different nearby activities and places to see. They organised a Tuk tuk driver to take me to Yoga classes each day. The cottage bed was comfortable. The highlight for me was the location. You can walk down a steep hill to the railway within 5 minutes. Then you follow the railway to Ella, it takes about 25 minutes. The walk is so beautiful and there was something really fun about walking along the railway. In the evenings we would get a Tuk Tuk back to the cottage from Ella takes about 10 minutes up hill. Really delicious generous big breakfast! This cottage is the perfect place for some peace away from the town to sit amongst the birds and trees and read a book. I would really recommend this cottage particularly for single travellers or couples. A very lovely family I won’t forget your kindness. Thank you!

Loved the cottage and peaceful location. The food was excellent home cooked Sri Lankan cuisine. Excellent hosts. Friendly and helpful.
