Dorian Guest House and Restaurant

Prima guesthouse, ruime kamer, goede bed, op loopafstand van prachtig strand coconutbeach, waar we 2 schildpadden hebben gezien. Vanaf het balkon allerlei vogeltjes gezien en eekhoorns. Met TukTuk ben je zo in centrum van Weligama. Uitstekende koffie en ontbijt, fruitsalade met curd en honing. Zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame gastheer.

Had an amazing one-night stay! The location is a surfer's dream—just a short walk to Coconuts, one of the best surf spots in Sri Lanka, and close to Weligama and Ahangama. Perfect for catching waves and then relaxing. The guesthouse itself was cozy, and the breakfast was a real treat—fresh, delicious, and the perfect start to the day. If you're looking to surf and enjoy a chilled vibe, this spot is unbeatable. Wish I could’ve stayed longer! Highly recommend for anyone looking to experience the local surf scene

Large rooftop terrace.

Dirty bathroom. Lock to the room is broken. When door locked I couldn’t open it. We asked the staff, and one person went in through the bathroom window via scaffolding which was already there implying that this wasn’t the first time. Curtains on the windows are pointless as they leave a gap allowing the sunrise to wake you up regardless if you want it or not. WiFi is terrible. The telescope on the pictures looks attractive, but in reality this is a damaged telescope (what a surprise, if every gear has access to it). Nevertheless staff asked us not to keep it in room during rains (better to discard it already).

Dorian is a family-run guest house, and it shows in the warmth, kindness, good humour and friendliness of all the staff. They are all keen to help and service always come with a real smile My room was large, with a great 4-poster bed & ample mosquito nets, comfortable chairs, excellent shower and balcony, shaded by mango and rose-apple trees. The dining/social area is comfortable & airy, with a multi-lingual library to avail of, and water refills (lkr1400 for a litre). A large, peaceful garden lies within the building, which is a lovely surprise. Food-wise, I didn't have lunch/dinner, but everyone dining seemed very happy. Breakfast was delicious, I particularly loved the fruit salad with curd & honey and the smoothie bowl, tea was invariably perfect, in china cups & teapot - love it! Special mention for the quality of the laundry service, fantastic, my clothes haven't been so clean in months, and really good value, too! Manju's tuktuk service is nearly always available, and he's prompt, good humoured and a mine of local information. I arrived as a stranger & left - reluctantly - as a friend, with hugs, kisses & smiles all round. Dorian is outstanding - enjoy!
