Streamside Country Manor- Matamata

Streamside Country Manor is a great place to stay to visit Hobbiton as it has great countrystyle vibes.

We rented the whole villa and felt that it was overpriced for the level of finish and service. I can see the owners take pride and joy in what they do here, but they need to ensure things are more polished if they're charging $1100 a night. I think part of it is that they live here, so there's a lot of their things around (scraps of soap, messy laundry/pantry area). Fires set and kindling available; and windows cleaned should be standard for that price too. But if you are happy to overlook those, it's a lovely house.

House displays exceptional traditional timber frame craftsmanship. It would be a wonderful place for a family get together. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

We were unable to stay longer due to our travel schedule!

Gorgeous unique house. Extremely relaxing and beautiful setting close to Matamata

The house is beautiful and the outlook is incredible. The owners were so lovely, and we were greeted each day by a friendly chicken and her little chicks! The location is fabulous, easy to get pretty much anywhere. We cannot wait to go back!

The manor was well constructed and very rustic. It is a testament to its construction that it remains beautiful. The manor has great character. Caren was very kind and welcoming.

There is no wardrobe to hang clothes, the soap bottle for handwashing was not working. Unfortunately, for the cooking guest, many condiments were beyond their due date and there was no cooking oil although Caren was kind enough to provide some. The smoke alarm easily went off despite windows and doors being open. Unfortunately the manor had many cobwebs and dusty corners. The toiletries were limited and absent until we contacted Caren where to find the toiletries. There was also no dustbin in the bedroom or toilet. Despite efforts, we could not find any rubbish bags. On our 2nd night due to miscommunication with the other guest, when we returned late at 12am, we found ourselves locked out and banging furiously on the door to wake up the other guest who had taken the only key for the manor. It was distasteful to be out in the cold and banging/shouting in the dark. Overall, we felt that the manor had so much potential and with more maintenance and attention to detail with better provisions, it really could be so magnificent.

Everything about our stay at Streamside exceeded our expectations. Caren was the perfect host and we would highly recommend this Manor house to anyone looking for accommodation in this central area.
