Sandy Edge

The host was super warm and friendly. The breakfast was amazing and the room was nice.

The hosts were great and keen to 'go the extra mile' to look after you and any particular needs. Whilst the room wasn't overly large it was a self contained unit and perfectly adequate and comfortable. Great Sri Lankan style breakfast and the host provided a good evening meal at a very reasonable extra cost. We had intended to spend the last two days in Colombo but having experienced it on arrival, changed our plans to stay in Kalpitiya and were really pleased we did. Although a long way out it was well worth it with great walks along the beach not too far from the property. Although not for us, I realise it is a haven for wind/kite surfers.

It did seem somewhat isolated but that actually suited us.

The host was interested in guest. Public relations was his forte. I was the only one anyway. The family is nice, breakfast and the dinner were prepared by the father in law. Delicious. The host gave me even washing powder. From the road Sandy Edge makes a great impression. The main big house has a common space on the ground floor. Cabanas are built on a land of past coconuts plantation. The host was looking after his son, a lovely little person.

I was mislead by pictures and by description of cabanas. In fact my cabanas was dirty, moskitiera had a lot of hols. Walls were painted carelessly. One day I found huge toad in ...a toilet bowl. Cabanas are made out of bricks with some parts made of bambous. Inside was extremely hot impossible to sleep. The separate bathroom was horrible, nothing in common with the picture on the booking com.

Very nice location near the sea. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They cook delicious food every night which you can enjoy with the other guests. There is a natural beach close by and a few more not far away with some beach bars and restaurants. It was also possible to rent a scooter from Sandy Edge.

We enjoyed our stay here even outside of the main tourist season. The room is nice and comfortable. Especially the outside sitting area is very nice

Family owners were great! Meals delicious with fresh local seafood and food from the property.

I felt like I found my home. The owner and his family were very kind and friendly. The food they made was amazing. They organized my transfers and the activities I wanted such as jeep to the tip of the peninsula and tuk tuk around to see the donkeys. The views were amazing.

Very nice place to stay in Kalpitiya! Owner and staff are sooo friendly, good location close to the beach and the lagoon, very nice room with private bathroom. Breakfast and dinner were amazing. Highly recommend this place!
