Sandy Edge

I've visited plenty of hotels in Sri Lanka but here i had the most warm welcome. I stayed in cabana which made in traditional rural style. All nessesary facillities (fan, moscito net, privet bathroom) were there. Host Prasanna is amazing and empathetic person. He always helped us with all our reqests but on the same time he wasn't intrusive. Besides, I’d like to mention good value for money, convenient location (10 minutes to beach by foot and 5 minutes by watersport lagoon by tuk-tuk) and delicious (non spicy!) traditional food.

The place was beautiful and the owner was so lovely. The rooms are pretty basic but they are clean and smell amazing. The owner is so helpful and the food was delicious. There aren’t windows but the net over the bed kept the mosquitos out. We really enjoyed our stay. Kalpitiya is pretty spread out but we had a motorbike so got around okay.

The only small detail I can think of is maybe having a fan in the dining room area to keep the flies away.

We had a great time at Sandy Edge. The owner was extremely kind. Everything was okay to ask and he helped us with everything. We went here to spot the dolphins. When we asked him if that was possible, he directly arranged this for us for the next morning. The dolphin tour was amazing; we saw many dolphins. At night we could join for the home made dinner, which was delicious, and in the morning we had the breakfast, which was also very good. The place is very quiet and chill. And with a 15 min walk you are at the beach. Just be prepared for the last part towards the accomodation, which is an sand road with many holes in it, which was quite challenging with our TukTuk, but doable (and quite fun ;) ) Thank you for the lovely time!

The host family are absolutely faboulous. A peaceful place for wind down. It is also actually good that it is not situated directly on the beach because it is often very windy.

The host is amazing, helps with everything. So kind and friendly. Good breakfast, we even had a free upgrade. Perfect stay!

The family/owners were exceptionally helpful, friendly, and courteous. I loved the tranquillity of the accommodation, the sound of the birds, and the palm trees.. the Boras were very functional, and the bed was very comfortable 😴 Definitely recommend solo travellers, I felt extremely safe here. IDEAL for relaxation and a wonderful place to chill

The road to the accommodation was not a sealed road. Lots of potholes.

Overall the place has very rustic view and the cottages were very independent and I liked a lot. It was quite windy so the sound from palm trees were amazing in the night. Great decorations and very very good food and hosts. We really felt comfortable and would definitely visit again.
